Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

  • Great SUV...not a performance car - 2004 Acura MDX

I am happy I bought this vehicle. I traded a 2002 Mercedes 320C in on it. Thus, I realize the ride will not be a performance car ride...and I also understand this vehicle has a lot to offer for the $. The ride is a little bumpy, but the pick up, goodies added and over-all comfort more than make up for that. I compared the Lexus RX330 to this and thought both were great. However, this ride was more for the $.

Test drove a good number of SUVs. This Acura SUV got my attention because of all its safety features, good looking body style, very good gas mileage, good Bose audio sound, and nicely powered 265 HP engine which makes it fun to drive with some pep. Interior audio controls as well as somewhat complicated NAV system the only knock

The MDX handles and drives so much better than any other 7 passenger+ suv its not even funny. Great convenience not having to remove the seats - we can still put 3 kids in the middle row - and fold down the rear row if need be.

Performance and reliablity exceeded my expectations. Fuel Economy improves with age. First year,16.5 mpg city, Second year, 17 mpg city. Year 3, almost 18 mpg city.

  • Getcha One! - 2003 Acura MDX

I originally hail from the Detroit area and my family has always bought vehicles made by American manufacturers. After serious reliability problems with our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we decided to look at foreign brands. We were pleasantly surprised to discover the Acura MDX. The build quality is far superior to any midsize SUV offered by GM, Ford, or Chrysler. And, Im hoping Acuras reputation for reliability will help me keep the MDX on the road and out of the dealerships garage. The list of standard features is quite lengthy. If you are looking for a luxury vehicle with a not-so-luxury price, then the MDX is for you! Getcha one!

  • Need a sports car and an SUV?? - 2007 Acura MDX

I just traded my beloved Infiniti FX for this MDX Sport. I drove the Acura just to prove to myself that my FX was still unrivaled in the world of upscale crossover vehicles. You gotta understand I loved my FX, but I loved my childhood sweetheart too and then I started meeting real women. Yikes!!! The MDX Sport handles better than top of the line Porsche of my 70s youth. While not the briskest off the line, from 4000 rpm and above this beast will compare favorably with almost anything not in the "super car" category. The blend of technology (too much to tell you about), comfort, utility, fit and finish is unrivaled. Drive one, hear one, and make one go around a corner... then decide.

  • Love My MDX - 2003 Acura MDX

The ride is great, the interior is luxurious. This is a wonderful car to take on trips. It is not too large. Is a pleasure to drive and I love the interior space. I had a small car prior to this and was very surprised at how comfortable I am driving this one, yet it seats 7.

  • Too many unexplained noises - 2002 Acura MDX
    By -

I like the MDX, like the way it looks, like the gas mileage (but not the required premium gas). The only complaint I have so far is the noise the brakes make (which were told is normal) and little rattles that appear out of no where. It sounds like its metal hitting metal somewhere in the second row seats. The slighest bump in the road brings on the rattle. The dealership was unable to find anything. Currently I have an old towel rolled up between the seat the metal piece that it locks onto. So far this week, I havent heard the noise again. If I dont get rid of this noise, the car will have to go because it drives me nuts!
