Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

Luxury SUV at a price - 2005 Acura MDX
By dl - June 6 - 6:06 amHaving driven the MDX for several months, Ive found it to be a wonderful experience. Ive already taken it up to Lake Tahoe several times with no problems. It has plenty of power up the mountain with 4 power & equipment and ample braking power. My friends are impressed with its roominess. Being my first SUV, I looked at both the Lexus & MDX. I chose the MDX for its 3rd row seating. Theres just so much more room on an MDX and not everything is an option. One thing to keep in mind, Acura recommends using premium gas for the MDX.

This SUV almost got us hurt - 2016 Acura MDX
By Carlos - May 25 - 9:16 pmWe got a new 2016 MDX and before it hitting 3 months, our new MDX almost got my whole family hurt (or could have been worst). While driving on the freeway it just suddenly stop while I was changing lane. Luckily the car behind us managed to stop and avoid hitting us. I tried to restart the engine and when it did, it move very slow and roughly to the shoulder of the freeway. After restarting the engine, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS came ON including Break System Failure or Malfunction. It scared my whole family and it was the most horrible UNSAFE DRIVE HOME for hours worrying if we still have break system working. Dropped of the MDX at our local dealership and until now (about 9 days now) still trying to figure things out.. We feel like this vehicle is just so UNSAFE now and it basically traumatized my whole family being in this MDX. Will review lemon law and make sure we dont become the CRASH TEST DUMMIES for this. And I hate hearing them say "Oh it must be because of the computers and technology"!.... We got this vehicle because of the SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY advertised by Acura.

By cathy e - May 21 - 10:00 amI just purchased this car 1 week ago and so far I am totally thrilled with it. It drives like a dream, smoothe and effortless. The acceleration is quick and the breaks reactive. I especially love the sound system. The entertainment package comes with Bose speakers and the sound is incredible. Also, the kids are loving the DVD system Its a classy, beautiful, luxury SUV and I am a happy(beaming) new owner~

Very Dissapointing for $40K! - 2002 Acura MDX
By RedMDX - May 19 - 2:00 amFor $40K this has been a dissapointment to say the least...even if it cost $30K wed be dissapointed....its spent way too much time in the shop and there are still many things that the dealership says are normal, but they sure are annoying. Weve had to have the entire VTM (4 wheel drive system) replaced..now the tranny is being recalled! 2 other minor recalls as well. Tires are shot at 30K! gas mileage at 16/18 vs. window of 18/23...and we are easy drivers. Used to get 16/18 out of full sized V-8 Chevy Tahoe and on regular gas!!

MDX is excellent so far! - 2007 Acura MDX
By Cliff Kang - May 17 - 10:00 amExcellent vehicle. Took it on a cross country trip from CA to NY with absolutely no problems. With highway driving, I get close to 23 mpg, but when driving around town, I usually get about 15 (I drive pretty aggressively I guess). Build quality and design is superb, and the options you get for the price compared to cars in its class is considerable. Only thing that Id really like to see are flat 2nd row seats, for better cargo storage. But otherwise, excellent :D! I love my car. Ive gotten about 5500 miles on it so far in 2 months.

Wished for More - 2005 Acura MDX
By irishwheat - May 13 - 10:50 amWished this car had been as reliable and fun to drive as other Honda products. In general, a great disappointment. Electrical problems and navigational breakdowns. AC would not shut off. In shop five times in first 7 months.

What an AWESOME SUV! - 2002 Acura MDX
By RichGilb - May 3 - 2:00 amThis is an AWESOME SUV. I HIGHLY recommend this vehicle. It sits high and has wonderful traction. The wide wheel base makes it feel like a panther over bumpy terrain. In fact, it is surprisingly spacious inside. It is sure-footed on any type of road surface or weather condition. The all- wheel drive is one of the most sophisticated in the industry. Try it and youll see why. The VTEC engine is an animal! Very smooth, and sufficiently powerful. Acura reliability and performance. The Navigation system is one of the best on the market. The voice is excellent and pleasant, and it ties into the stereo system seemlessly.

Not first choice but LOVE it! - 2002 Acura MDX
By nbg - May 2 - 2:00 amThis was not the vehicle that I was going to buy but I decided to test the 2002 Acura MDX Touring and ended up with one.I grow to love this car more each day. This preowned came with a DVD player which is a godsend when taking trips with our two kids. I car pool to two different schools as well and can comfortably carry 5 kids and backpacks with no problems (ages 10-13). All sports gear fits (we play hockey) as well.Mileage: 17 city/21.5 hwy NOTE: Complaint to dealer re: rear brake noise was met with add on trim kit for the rear brakes. Now no noise and covered under warranty.
