Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

More Bang for your Buck - 2004 Acura MDX
By terp97 - August 30 - 2:00 amThe SUV is great! My and wife and i have been looking at SUV for about a year know and were in no rush to purchase one. We have driven everything from the full size to the crossovers. Yukon/Tahoe, Armada, FX35, X5, Discovery, ML350 and Pathfinder. None come close to the value and options you get in the MDX. Take your time and drive them all! The MDX was the last SUV we looked at and ended up being the one!

Acura makes the best SUV - 2004 Acura MDX
By MGZ - August 21 - 2:00 amThis is an excellent Suv. Only the 85K Range Rover compares. After test- driving the Toureag,X5,ML350,PIlot,GX470,Land Crusier, and XC90, the MDx was my choice due to having the best combination of on and off road performance, features, styling in and out, dashboard layout, prestige, reliability, and value. I think that I spent my 46K well(Its the best SUV in the segment).I love my Acura.

My MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By PinakinDesai - August 16 - 2:00 amExcellent performance overall. The only thing that they could improve upon is the wind noise. I also wish they had not taken away the Sun glass holder. Other than that excellent car.

Pretty Nice - 2004 Acura MDX
By lovin it - August 14 - 2:00 amAfter driving the car for over 800 mi, Ive finally come to really appreciate the MDX.I did have a major pain in the butt experience (literally) after sitting in the traffic in LA for an 1 1/2 hrs. Every rear end is different, so this is a personal experience & u might not experience the same displeasure. Luckily, for my glut, it has been broken in and the ride is less painful and the drive more pleasurable. Now, I couldve bought the XC90 & been whistling Dixie, but the 10k extra, the week engine and lack of off road ablities...didnt sit well.

2004 MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By philcosal - August 12 - 2:00 amTried them all and the MDX was the winner. No regrets after 8000 miles. Nav unit simply marvelous - can find about anything any where. Update price a bit stiff. Only nit piks are driver position in respect to steering, girls love it the long legged guys find it less than ideal. Road noise too noticable - gets old after 8 hours of interstate. Detest the service requirement for differential fluid, only available from Acrua/Honda no alternative found, they charge $60 to change - seems a bit pricy. Might not have purchased MDX had I known this in advance. Dont like sold here only deals. Live and learn. 4Runner next choice.

Mildly Disappointed - 2008 Acura MDX
By Randall Hazzard - August 11 - 10:43 pmPerformance and fun to drive. Love to hear it rev. My gas mileage is poor at 16.2 MPG. That is a mix of 60% highway and 40% city. Reliability and quality is less then expected. Slow leak in tire that dealer wanted to charge me $380.00 dollars to replace because they cant find the link but acknowledge the leak is there. Needed to jump start 3 times. Twice because little dome light was left on by kids. Once because of a draw off battery that has been difficult to trace. Mirrors dont adjust with change of driver in preprogram settings. Dealer says this is normal but if you can change my XM stations with different drivers, you can certainly adjust mirrors.

Trading up from ML320 to MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By terry woram - August 11 - 2:00 amMy previous suv was the Mercedes ML320. After driving the MDX I felt that I was trading up to more features and convenience for the price. Living in the DC area I can not tell you how amazing the GPS is. Also, the camera for backing up is a great feature since I have young children and it is my greatest fear to injure someone while backing up.

Disappointed with steering - 2007 Acura MDX
By rperret - August 7 - 4:26 pmI just traded in my 2002 MDX for the New 2007 MDX and am about to trade again! The new car is significantly smoother to drive except the steering is so heavy it feels as if your are driving a truck 3 times heavier. The whole driving experience is that of a much larger car then the old one, but when I get out and look at it, it looks much smaller then the replaced MDX. My wife actually has a hard time parking in small parking lots because of the steering. This is a big negative. The build quality is superb and there are lots of improvements, but be warned the driving experience is anything but nimble.
