Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

This is my third Acura. Have always found these cars a great value for the money. Had my first 2002 MDX for 4 years and was looking for a new SUV but no matter how much research and test drives I did I kept coming back to the MDX because the price to feature and luxury ration could not be beat.

  • Love the MDX, hate the mileage - 2006 Acura MDX

I love the MDX. I drove a company car for years, and switched jobs so I had to purchase a car for the first time in over 10 years. I purchased it due mostly to the fact that it was the best- fitting SUV for me. (I am 64" tall, so the leg room was what led me to the MDX). Looked at other mid-size SUVs (Toyota, Volvo, VW, etc.) and others were just too small for me. All the features in the car are outstanding!

  • MDX: Most Bang for the Buck - 2003 Acura MDX
    By -

The 2003 Acura MDX is by far the most bang for the buck in the import sport utility class. I looked at the Infiniti FX35, Mercedes Benz ML320, Lexus GX, BMW X5, and Volvo XC. For features and benifits the MDX blew them all away. Not only did it have the most features for the least amount of money, but it also has the best resale value of all in the bunch. Some of the models compaired didnt even offer 7 passenger seating (FX35, X5, XC) and were still priced thousands more. Oh and as a footnote the Acura MDX is the only one with a NHTSA 5 star crash rating.

Works well. Only problem is the window squirter has frozen up twice in one month: once on the drivers side, once on the passengers side. Getting about 16 MPG around town, so the mileage is lower than advertised. Great in snow. Like the bun warmers!

  • Great little suv - 2006 Acura MDX

More road noise than you would expect. Still a great little suv. Still more road noise than I like.

  • Sweet 7-seater SUV with premium quality - 2003 Acura MDX

Five times better than a Ford and better resale value than a BMW. Overall, very satisfying.

A very comfortable interior with lots of stretching room. Nice navigation system and stereo. 3rd row is comfortable for adults or kids. lots of cargo room when 3rd row is filded down. Im considering buying another one for the wife.

  • Looked at them all Acura best in class!! - 2005 Acura MDX

We looked at and test drove all of the other midsized SUVs in the Acura MDXs class. We found the best deal and the best car to be the Acura. Fit was great, and we felt it looked to be the most upscale interior and exterior.

  • Disappointing - 2002 Acura MDX

This was one of the more disappointing vehicles that I have owned. Vehicle clunks when shifting from forward to reverse (dealer says it cannot be repaired). Cant drive with the windows down as it creates pressure inside vehicle. The list goes on.

Car is quieter and rides better than I thought it would. New blue metallic color looks really great. This is truly a very high quality car. Also has storage compartment under floor in cargo area and many handy storage bins throughout passenger area.
