  What a money pit!!!!!!!! - 1992 Acura Legend

  I bought a 1992 Legend with $48k miles in 2000. I thought it would be a reliable car that would last me at least 8 more years. In the four years that I have owned it, I have poured thousands of dollars into it. A new A/C ($1200), radiator, two front axles, replaced all motor mounts (come on, when was the last time you replace a motor mount in a car) and a load of other things. I estimate that I have spent at least $5000 in the four years I have owned it. The engine and transmission, they say, are great, but every thing else is garbage. I tell everyone who wants to by a used Legend to be prepared to pay thousands in repairs.

  I have owned many cars from various manufacturers and this is simply the best. I typically keep a car for 3-5 years before trading, but cannot part with the Acura. It is now my wifes car and will only occasionally let me drive it. Nothing but quality and fun.

  With proper maintainance.I have a 5- speed LS and I tell you Ive enjoyed every ride in this car.I dont see myself parting with his car anytime soon.Its reliable dependable,and very fast.I dont see anything in its category that compares... U take care of the ride,the ride will take care of U-Its that simple

  Have had my Legend half a year and like it very much. Reliability has been a problem, but I did not get the car in the best condition. Many people who have rode in it have commented on how much they like and cant believe that is it from 1992, and quite a few wish they had it. The performance is great and it is lots of fun to drive. The Legend is also one of the best looking cars available - even after 11 years.

  Bought used with 90k, at 93k now and loving it. Everytrhing about the car is just as good as he day it rolled of the line..

  When you drive this car it is difficult to believe that it was actually made eleven years ago. This how quality should be tested. After 11 years the car has not had any major repairs and we saved thousands on unnecessary maintenance. When you sit in this car you feel that you are in a german luxury sedan. The handling is perfect, and at the stop light this car beats many of the new sports vehicles. When you accelerate you always feel like there is some reserve power left.

  I bought this car with 155,000 miles and and I now have 177,000 miles and have had no problems. I have added a intake and performance muffler and the car just gets up and goes. Really fast, never failed to start even after weeks in the cold. Driven it up to 200 miles in 90degree weather and have had no problems. This car is great!!!!

  Admittedly, one of the best looking cars ever built: a good combo of elegence and muscle. However, I have had problems with the engine overheating. Moreover, b/c the engines were built with very narrow margins b/ween parts, a little overheating can do serious damage, as it did in mine. Nonetheless, If I had 15 grand to blow on a car, I rather buy a legend and then replace the engine and/or tranny than a new cavalier or something.

  I purchase this car new in October of 1992 and it has been a joy to own. I have owned new Buicks, Cadillacs, and Mercedes. But this car has been the greater value than all the rest.
