Bought this car in 2015 with 170,000 KMS , have owned this Gem for 6 years going on 7, I have 275,000 KMs on it and all I have done is Oil , Filter , Brake Pads and Air Cleaner and Serpentine Belt and Tires, We live in Vancouver Canada and have driven 3 times to California in it and had no issues, the car with its front wheel drive has no issues in the snow, the 5 speed manual makes it fun to drive, and parking in small spots is no issue, we have the 2 DR hatch so smaller wheel base, the car as many say here get super gas mileage, There are fewer and fewer for sale, the clutch in this car has never been replaced, its a warrior

I really love my Toyota Echo I purchased brand new April,2000. Its a beautiful red color that still loos brand new. Im a travel Nurse and bought it in my home town in For Lauderdale, Fl. and had it trucked out to Thousand Oaks,Ca for an assignment. It ha saved me quite a bit of money when the gas prices soared over #2.50/gallon.! Very dependable.Never worried about being stranded especially in a City 3000 miles away from my family.

The Toyota Echo is the value for your dollar car next to the Honda Civic. If you are looking to give your new high school graduate a new car, A Honda Civic or Toyota Echo is the car. Although 2005 is the last production year for the Echo, look in 2007 for the Toyota Yaris to be the next best thing. Japanese producted Yaris is the exact same frame and structure as the Echo, but you now have a 3rd or 5th door (hatchback).

I think its cute and for the price, it is very reliable and economical. If youre looking for a good, sound economical small car, I think the Echo is a good choice. The trunk is suprisingly roomy and the seating is tall and very adequate. The down side is its a bit noisy when driving on a highway. I wish it was better insulated from road noises. And it does sway when passing a semi. Otherwise, I like my Echo just fine.

  • I love my 2002 ECHO - 2005 Toyota Echo

I bought my ECHO new in Sept. 2002. I love everything about it. The only thing I would do different is buy the auto tranny rather than the 5 spd, (due to a medical condition). I get great gas milage 39 in town. I always get comments on the car wherever Im at, and I love the design of the dash. The car is reliable, quiet, very comfortable (front and rear seats), it has a lot of "get up and go", and its a Toyota. Who could ask for anything more? I have let it sit idle for a month and it starts up every time.

It was a wise choice, this car is great on gas, easy to find parking, and it looks funky.

  • This car has been to hell and back! - 2005 Toyota Echo

This is the greatest car ever! My wife bought this car before we met. I have an eclipse (2000) and love sports cars and racing. This car has impressive performance (for the type of car that it is), the greatest stock stereo I have ever heard, and the strongest and most reliable motor (similar to the Hondas that have been long haulers). We have driven across country (Georgia to California)! I have added a k&n air filter, and use premium fuel, and synthetic oil change (starting at 35000 miles.) At over 73000 miles, the only problem we have had is some minor electrical recently and just did my first battery change. The best buy ever!

  • greatly improved suspension design - 2005 Toyota Echo

These comments apply to 3 identical new Echos purchased from July-October 05,equipped with 15" wheels,175 section tires. Fine road grip. Heavy duty roll bars completely eliminate body roll. Corners flat. Nimble power steering, very precise, goes where pointed. Crosswind stability vg- etc. Very firm ride, no float on heaving road, a little rough on bad pavement (See my "8" rating for Comfort.)(Would rate it "10" with 2 or more people,or on good roads). Shifting easy, but downshifts from 5th to 4th take a little aligning. Stoplight Grand Prix acceleration a blast, shocks the unwary.Recommended tire inflation shows up small bumps...Reducing to improve ride gives PRONOUNCED understeer on fast turns
