This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalon has been redesigned for 2005 and now offers a more powerful V6 and even more room than before.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin befitting a Lexus, powerful and smooth V6 engine, superb ride quality, huge rear seat.
Cons:
  • Not as much fun to drive as a Chrysler 300, stability control can only be had on top-rung models.

Have driven Lincoln for 15 years so this was a change for us. Fun and easy to drive. I am 5; husband is 63 and accommodates either of us, lots of room in front and in back seat. Great music sounds system, including the controls on the steering wheel. Love the soft dove gray interior as compared to many cars with black interior. Easy, effortless power, just quietly and quickly surges ahead, lots of power! I think we made a great choice and I look forward to many luxury miles ahead.

This is my 4th avalon. You have to wonder why Toyota offers Lexus when they just built an avalon that feature for feature, quality ,drivablity etc surpasses the lexus 430 in most areas. The es330 does not compare in any way to the new avalon limited. The gs300 has less power in its new v6 and not the options a avalon limited offers. WOW!! you have to wonder. Toyota sure surpassed itself with this new avalon limited. My wifes face tells it all...*smiles* *smiles*...Thank you Toyota. Made buying this one soooooo much easier

  • Greatest car from Toyota. - 2005 Toyota Avalon

After buying in 2001 a series 5 BMW by 2005 I had had it with this German maker and its pieces of junk cars that let me stranded 4 times and had me dry on repairs. (My brother warned me but I wanted the Beemer... what an idiot I was for not listening). I need something luxurious and reliable and it was not hard to decided among an Avalon an Infinity, and a Lexus LS when I checked the options, size, cost of ownership, features and the styling. Almost 4 years later and never a problem (except for the rear sunshade) this Avalon has been the best car I have owned so far. It is a well designed big car. In the back has a flat floor, seats that recline and plenty of room for teenagers and adults.

This is the most comfort for a fuel efficient car that I have ever driven. I tested many different makes before purchasing and I kept going back to this model. The handling is excellent on the road. I feel very safe traveling in my Avalon.

Sleek new body style, interior well appointed and controls in easy reach, far above the 2000 I traded. Toyota has taken the Avalon to a new plateau.

  • This is one awesome car! - 2005 Toyota Avalon

I spent the last several months researching luxury sedans..Acura, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes when my 18 yo daughter said I should see the new Avalon. This car does not disappoint, feature rich (the back seats recline!), car is larger than last years as is the interior. The ride is as smooth as the LS430. In the sedan genre this is the most bang for the buck of all that I looked into. You can pay more...get less and still not touch the beauty of this car. If you are looking do yourself a favor to check it out.

Just purchased the 05 limited model, excellent power, nice interior features, real nice ride. The paint buffs out real nice, lots of depth and great shine even on the light color. Real solid feel to the ride.

  • Worthwhile Avalon notes - 2005 Toyota Avalon

The 05 Avalon is a fantastic automobile. It is powerful, comfortable and a joy to drive. We just came back from a 1500 mile trip, loaded down with a trunk full and two full sized adults in front. Speeds were in the range of 75 to 80 and our mpg was 27 on average. I could easily make the rated 31 with a lighter weight and speed below 70. The only problem was the door to the CD player/am/fm stuck closed the entire 8 days. It worked fine for a day after we returned then failed to open again. One thing to be careful of is the very low curb clearance below the front bumper. There should be a replaceable rub strip along the bottom. I left a lot of "Blizzard Pearl" paint on an Applebees high curb.

This is my second Avalon and was not sure at first that I liked the larger interior space. Now we consider the space wonderful, with luxurious features and more power under the hood in the 3.5 engine than I should be trusted with. My big complant is my wife wont drive her sports car, complaining it is not comfortable.
