Went looking for an SUV at a Chevy dealer and bought a Toyota 4runner, we were so impressed with the vehicle and I (male) love looking at it in the driveway as well as driving it. I read the reviews and say they are spot on! Paint chips easily and the front end/hood needs to be more aggressive. We have the hood scoop with a V8 and Magnaflow exhaust...sounds great, drives great. This vehicle is fun to drive, handles great, and is solid! We looked at/drove Hummer H3, Jeep Laredo, Pathfinder, but walked away with the 4runner on the spot! We never owned a Toyota before, but we are extremely glad we bought this one. Never buying an American model again, over priced!

  • I love it - BUT - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

I replaced my 2002 Ford Explorer with a 2008 4Runner SR5. I got about the same vehicle, options wise, with the exceptions that the explorer had leather and a 6 disc CD system and was about $10,000 less new. Although I love the way the 4Runner looks, it doesnt have as much head room, the double decker cargo system is a pain, and you cannot touch the vehicle without scratching it. (Try keeping your kids from touching it.) Its also harder to reach the backseat from the front.

I traded a Jeep Liberty for this SR5 4x4 V8 4Runner and man what a difference. This vehicle rides like a Lexus on the highway and it also rides extremely well on dirt forest roads here in Arizona. Dont know why I waited so long to get one.

  • Great Choice - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

Had a 96 4Runner and decided to get another, the 2008 Limited 4WD. The only Japanese SUV with a solid axle - I tow a 3000 lb boat. The 6 has lots of pep for towing on the weekends. I dont feel like Ive given up any towing by not getting the 8 (but I bet the 8 can really tow) and benefit from good mileage during the week. The car is solid, nav and Bluetooth are excellent. Backup camera allows me to line up the tow hitch, a valuable option for me. I did remove all the 4Runner badging - one of the only Toyotas to have the badging on the sides of the car. AC controls are Gameboyish, but I keep the Auto climate control on all the time (even when towing), so dont use them.

  • Maybe saved my life - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

In June of 2013, a full-sized crew cab Chevy pickup ran a red light and hit my left front corner. My left rear corner swung around and his his R. R. side. $23,000 body damage to 4runner, and they couldnt open the hood. Front end was bent about 10" to the right. Adjuster said the 4runner probably saved me from serious injury or worse. I came out without a scratch. The dealer found me an 08 with only 29k miles- its virtually identical, but grey not black. Its been a great vehicle. Its been elk hunting in CO, fishing on logging roads in Canada, and through some bad winters in MN. Excellent vehicle. I get 19 mpg unless towing a heavy boat, (16). 24 at 65 on the freeway.

  • It Grew On Me - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

I bought this vehicle new and have had it for 2 years now. I have some issues with room, my husband is 511" and barely has enough headroom and realistically, only plan on 4 occupants to ride comfortably. The double decker cargo system is awful and you cant even think about touching the outside of the truck without scratching it. (I put 130K on an 02 Explorer and other than where my wedding ring scratched the door handle, the paint still looked new.) With that said, I absolutely love this vehicle. Its a smooth, quiet ride, I can count on it regardless of weather conditions, and have never had one mechanical issue with it to date. Gas mileage isnt too terrible and interior cleans easily.

  • Love, love my truck - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

I just bought my truck March 16, 2017, only 13 days of ownership. I absolutely love it so far. Great power and great ride. I traded 2013 Nissan, hated that car, awful power, 17 mpg. I also owned 2007 Grand Cherokee w/ hemi, really liked that suv but does not compare to my 4runner. Got very lucky, 2008 v8, leather only 68k miles. Only bad thing so far, the cup holders really are awful, the cup will wobble and almost fall over.

I have had this car for a couple months now and I love it! We traded in our 2003 Ford Explorer Limited and are very pleased. It hauls our family around with ease. We dont know why we didnt buy this car back in 2003. The build quality is superior and has very useful features that any American car would envy. I have always heard of Toyotas lasting for 250,000+ miles, so lets hope this one will do the same! We live in Arizona and this car handles the mountains with ease, almost as if it is my daughters Jeep, if not better. Its too bad that it is my car and my husband wont get out of it, because then maybe I could tell you more!

Its a smooth ride for such a strong SUV. The v6 version is the one I bought. In comparison to the ford and the chevy it had about the same power but more pick up and go in the 4runner. Size wise its about the same.

  • Very Happy Customer! - 2008 Toyota 4Runner

I have always enjoyed the look of the 4Runners since they came out and they constantly keep impressing me. The inside is a little 90s, but the look of the outside and the ride quality more than makes up for it. It is a very sharp and very reliable car that will suite our needs for years to come!
