For 2010, the Tesla Roadster gets the more robust one-speed transmission that was retrofitted to last year's model. The navigation and premium audio systems are now integrated into one package that also includes satellite radio. The Tesla's battery range has also been to 244 miles.

  • Expensive, 3.5-hour electricity fill-ups required, limited range compared to conventional cars, gymnastic entry and exit, manual steering, no side airbags.

    The Tesla Roadster is great fun to drive. It has amazing acceleration and efficiency. Sitting at a stop light, the car uses 1 amp of electricity while everyone else is idling. To stop, the regenerative braking kicks in to recharge the batteries. This car causes a complete paradigm shift in the automotive industry.
