2 different ones, 2 results - 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By ro krotts - March 29 - 6:58 amBoth me and my roommate had a 03 one each. first the good news. Mine made it to 230k and very rarely had a major problem beyond having a tranny rebuild in the mid 100k range. Everything still worked at the end besides the fuel gauge that stopped working for the last 20k miles or so. At 230k part of the tranny cracked open while driving (normally and during winter)and all the fluid came out. Its was running perfectly with no problems besides the fuel gauge but decided not worth a rebuild. Bad news- roommate had same year van just with less options. hers was constantly having things go wrong and replaced(roughly 6k spent on repairs over 4 years), and it only had 140k on it. Someone sawed off her converter and went to get an estimate and found out also needed new break lines so she scrapped it. So weird same year 1 was excellent and made it way over 200k and 1 had tons of problems and 140k

Terrible vehicle not reliable at all - 2007 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By Jo - July 7 - 10:42 amThis vehicle stays broke more than anything else especially dealing with the motor of overheating, this is a terrible vehicle to have. Save money and time and less headaches. Motor has a defect, over heating the vehicles or a silhouette, Montana and a Vengeance they have all the same motor and over heating problems highly recommended do not buy unless you plan on staying on the side of the road broke down.

Built in problems - 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By dickw1 - December 27 - 5:33 amOu Oldsmobile Silhouette Premiere had 10,400 miles on it when we purchased it, but at 30,000 things started to fail. First the AC condenser leaked freon, then had to have rear brakes replaced owing to the shop said was a rock between the pad and rotor (not a warrantee item). Last, the head gaskets started to leak at less than 39,000 miles (a $1,700 job). After 50 plus years as a GM owner, things are going wrong that I never experienced with other cars. I am losing faith in the GM brand, owing, chiefly, to GM refusing to quit using the same cheap gaskets for the last 10- 12 years that I am aware of.

Luxury at a great price - 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By artgpo - December 22 - 10:00 amSince GM was practically donating this van, i.e $500 cash rebate, $843 leather interior rebate, zero down, 0% for 60 months with no payment for 90 days, we decided to look. The Montana was nice but the Silhouette is classy. As a further inducement, Olds, which is closing shop, is giving a 60/60,000, zero deductible GM bumper to bumper extended warranty.. If you opt not to take the warranty you get and additional $1,000! I bought the van for $1,000 under the invoice price as computed here on Edmunds. Once I have sufficient driving experience Ill comment more.

never buy GM again - 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By countyworker - December 7 - 12:22 pmI have over the past 10 years poured a lot of money into this van . While I like the leather seats and all the options being a premiere edition the intake and head gaskets went twice a transmission rebuild ones at 85000 miles heated seats repaired twice broke again had way to many over heating problems just to many things to list .If you like big repair bills by a GM mini van. The van spent more time being repaired than me driving it never get me again GM.

A Great Mini Van - 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By modiecast - October 8 - 2:00 amAfter thorough research of both American and Foreign vans, the Oldsmobile cam out on top as the best all around value. While other may have excelled in one area or another, the Olds is the best package for the $$$. Great acceleration, a roomy interior, attractive styling, a host of luxury features, a 5 year / 60,000 factory warranty and great incentives makes this can a hard package to beat.

Great Luxury MiniVan - 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By Oldsman - September 25 - 10:40 amBought this van from a private owner. It is a nice luxury minivan with lots of neat features. I love the dual power sliding doors and the rear parking sensor. It drives real smooth and its been great on trips. I have the van regularly serviced and change the oil every 5000 miles and belts and hoses every 2 years. This van has been very reliable for me. I guess Ill have to look at the Buick or Chevy version when I go to replace it.
