This Year's Model Updates:

Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.

Pros:
  • SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

  • Downshift in Quality - 2002 Nissan Sentra

My Sentra now has 4100 miles and I am having problems already. I feel like the car is impossible to control at high speeds. As far as the summertime, the AC completely kills any power the car has. It makes merging a nightmare. Have taken to turning the AC off (our turbo switch) to get that power back in a merge situation. The sunvisors on both sides are completely inadequate. There is WAY too much space on the drivers side windshield wiper that is not wiped away (it makes a big difference when you cant see). My ABS brakes are starting to grind already.

  • Highly Recommend this Car!! - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This car is simply outstanding when compared with other cars in the economy sedan category! The SE-R comes with many great standard features in addition to its horsepower, and looks appealing. The car offers plenty of zoom plus the benefits of a 4-cylinder--great gas mileage! (I average 27mpg with combined highway/city driving) The car drives wonderfully-nice combination of smooth steering and that "road feel".

  • Great Concept, Poor Execution - 2002 Nissan Sentra

The 165 bhp 2.5 litre motor is a great concept. The Automatic Transmission has much to be desired. The Seats could use a little color and the A/C Center could use a lot more attention to detail.

  • Greatest Sentra yet - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I have two now. 01 SE 2.0 and the new Spec V. this has been the most fun car that i have ever owned. What a great price too. you cant get this kind of performance and looks in any other car in its price range.

  • Piece of Junk - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I bought my Sentra from a man on Craigslist. He had all the paperwork to prove he had taken care of the car. The paint on the hood and roof was fading already, which is on 99% of all the 2002 Sentras. In the last year the computer has gone out, the AC has gone out and the gas mileage and power has gone down to almost nothing. Stay Away from these cars, I have only had bad things happen. Everyone I know that has ever owned a 2002 Nissan Sentra has had pure hell.

  • This car is terrible.... - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I bought this car in 5/02 and the second day I had it the flashers started blinking very fast. Brought to the dealer the next day they told me there was nothing wrong. Happened again and brought it back the next day. Took them until 10/02 to repair it. THen in 11/02 the heater stopped working and they did not repair that until 1/02. Then on 2/02 the car died in a parking lot and the dealer said the radio was draining the battery and replaced it. The car has been at the dealership more then 60 days of the time I have had it and only has 7000 miles. I have never had it in my possession when it was in working order without awaiting a part.

I have a 03 spec v and its a great little car for the money. You cant get all the features and all the performance from any other import for even 4 grand more. And honda doesnt even know what torque is.

  • I love my SE-R - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This car looks great, runs great, and is fun to drive! looked at the new Corolla, the SE-R Spec V, and the SE-R, and am happy I got the SE-R. handling on country roads and highway is superb. got a 2.5 liter engine and 165 hp (35 more than the corolla and only 10 less than the Spec V.) The SE-R comes with power everything standard, and the standard upgraded 7- speaker sound system is great. 16 inch wheels are cool and the all season tires are great.

  • POCKET ROCKET - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This car is the best bang for the buck out there. I have raced and beaten the following in my $16K SpecV: Audi A4 1.8T/2.6, V6 Mustang, most Mercedes Benz, Acura RSX, Acura Integra GSR, VW GTI 1.8T/2.6, VW Beetles, Neon R/T, Chevy Z24, BMW 323/325/328, Ford f150, etc. etc. etc. the list goes on and on. This car looks like an econobox but flies like an M3. You dont see too many on the road. HONDA BEWARE!

  • Great, Economical Buy - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Sentra has many benefits over other cars of its class including Civics, Corollas,& Focus. For the same if not more features the price is much lower. I also havent had to do any major maintenance. It is also much better powered and performs better than the Ford Passing on highways is extremely easy for a car of its size & you can barely hear the engine while acceleating.Shifting is very smooth as is the ride for a car of its size Only two complaints. One,front driving seats are a bit uncomfortable & gas mileage is not as good as Corolla or Civic.Only 28 in the city & 32 on highway.
