This Year's Model Updates:

Most of the changes to the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class relate to engine upgrades. Last year's E500 model is gone, and in its place is the 382-horsepower E550. Mercedes' AMG division has also renamed last year's E55 AMG as the E63 AMG in light of its more powerful 507-hp V8 engine. Additionally, there's an improved version of the diesel-fueled E320; called Bluetec, it promises reduced tailpipe emissions. Rounding out the changes are updated front-end styling, the addition of the PreSafe anticipatory safety system (from the S-Class), improved adaptive lighting, a new sport package and a few extra standard features that were previously optional.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, powerful V8 engines, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Monster of a car but well balanced - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I bought a used E550 and it is the best car I have ever had - balanced, powerful, smooth, ergonomic, roomy .... love that V8 and cannot ever go back! I have had 3 Mercedes, a Volvo, a BMW (M3), Saab, and several Fords. I have also driven my parents 4 Mercedes. The E550 tops all of them combined. It has 382 horsepower but I get 28 mpg on the highway (25 if I goose it). It looks sedate but keeps up with unwary Porsche and Corvette drivers. Fantastically smooth driver on the interstate with fantastic response for passing. Right now, I am shopping for an convertible (for fun) but cannot find anything as great as my current E550. Maybe an SL550?

  • Its no BMW, but excellent car - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Coming from an 06 330i. This car is feels like its built like a tank. It has such a heavy feeling my wife feels really secure with. I think it feels too heavy, and a bit too soft, but not like a Lexus at least. You can feel the road below you, just with a filter whereas the BMW lets you feel everything. The engine is quite good, lots of torque in low RPMs. Fuel economy is not as good as a BMW, but respectable. Dealer installed Continental ContiSport3 tires. Wish they used something else -- they are really loud. And the navigation really is terrible -- only can direct you to a number range on any given street. Welcome to the 21st century, Mercedes!!

  • A Great car - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car replaced my 2000 E430. Much more power, with a much sportier feel. Got the sport package which is a free option this year. Tremendous exterior finish. The old car drove like a golf cart with immediate response and acceleration. The new one provides extraordinary power without realizing it due to the lack of jerks forward or acceleration kicks. Interior controls take a bit of instruction, but all are aimed to make sure the driver is comfortable. I have one in black and white exactly as pictured. Beautiful car with no performance disappointments. Highly recommend the voice control to bypass complex controls.

  • Wonderful car with one problem so far - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I enjoy the E350. it is my third E Class Mercedes. The only problem has been with the transmission which was fixed under warranty by a dealer in Hyannis MA. It required an overnight at the dealer while the part was shipped in. Since then I have driven the car cross country to Arizona and had no problems. The sound system and my Sirius radio are wonderful. I also got over 31 MPG on the trip.

  • Shame on you Mercedes - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2007 E350, this is my 4th Mercedes and definitly my last!! Main seal went at 30K, power steering pump at approx. 55K and Transmission went DOA at 60K miles. What ever happened to Mercedes??? Quality stinks!! For the price of a Mercedes you can pick up two Jap cars and youll get your bang for your buck. I can assure you the transmission doesnt go out at 60K on Toyota, Honda etc.. Good bye Mercedes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go sell you cars somewhere else!!

  • We shall see - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have owned E550 for 2 weeks. In shop for last three days. Voice command inoperable ,drivers side airbag inoperable, rattle in dash. Dealer followed MB bulletin, did not correct rattle. Quality still a question after all the QA/QC conferences held by MB. Leased vehicle based on a complete makeover per MB and the deletion of the Bosh electric brakes which cost MB dearly in warranty costs. Wife likes style of car which is better than a 550i BMW. However the adjustable air suspension is not calibrated correctly. Neither the soft, normal, or hard setting provide a satisfying ride. BMW still a better ride and a true drivers car. Sold one of the last 2001 BMW 740i sports to do deal, I hope this was not a big mistake.

  • E350 Key to The Cure special edition - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

So far had the car for a month. Im very happy and satisfied with it so far... this special edition came with lots of extras! got it with 115K and it runs great. Well kept inside and out. Purchased the extended 24 month warranty just in case. The Karman Harmond stereo is amazing. I dont have to do much driving on a daily basis but find myself wishing I did just to enjoy more time behind the wheel. it has been a year now and I still feel the same about my car. It is amazing! I love it! no issues, runs great.

  • No regrets - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have never really been a fan of Mercedes Benz, too boxy looking. Thought it was like driving a good truck. Must say this new 2007 E350 is awesome. I love the new redesign. Finally Mercedes is on the right track. Drives like a dream and really hugs the road and with the sports package. It has nothing to envy compared to the BMW. I just upgraded from my Lexus 430 smooth ride, but the Mercedes is a lot more fun to drive. Especially impressed with the 268hp V-6. Excellent pick up and go!

  • This car is awesome - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought this car for my wife, but maybe somewhat for myself as well. Luxury package, sport package, upgraded 18 inch spoked rims with the low profile Conti tires. The ride is what you would expect from a German car, responsive, stiff, and you feel the road. We test drove a Lexus GS 350 and you cant compare the two. The Mercedes looks and feels better. The Lexus simply lacks pizazz and road feel. The other day my better half rubbed a curb and cut the tire. After hitting the little wrench icon in the center console, a Mercedes tech guy was out to change the tire within an hour, and since we purchased rim insurance (you have to get that, $800 for 5 years) the tire was covered!

  • Mercedes are terrific cars and when purchased used can be great Value! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After buying my first Mercedes in 1997 E320 brand new, we became Mercedes bigots. Why, Looked and rode as good in 2009 when we sold it as when we bought it even with its 250km badge on the grill. In 2009, $60+k wasnt in the cards for a new Mercedes, & we discovered how many cars are leased these days coming off in 2 to 3 years with low miles and another 3 years on warranty. We found a 2007 E350 with 33k miles in great shape with all maint records in Mercedes dealer computer and paid $27k Out the Door. Here almost 5 years later we have $96k miles and no problems. We plan to buy our next Mercedes in 2019, maybe upgrading to a 2016 S class that will last us through our retirement.
