  • Keeps on pushing - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I got my 2003 Mazda 6 i in September 2006. The only problems that I had were a dead battery (I used to leave the lights on), and my rack and pinion steering system which was replaced by the dealer covered by the factory warranty. Other than that the car is great. the low end torque could be better but the handling is awesome at all speeds. Love the ground clearance, I take it fishing and it has no problems with climbing steep embankments. Took it to Arkansas from Louisiana on a single tank of gas with four passengers and luggage, rode smoothly but is no Lincoln. The leather seats are very comfortable, radio is loud, and it looks great. Now has 76k still runs strong.

When I first bought my brand new Mazda 6 in 2003 I kept getting a burning smell in the car. The Mazda mechanic told me the smell would go away after 3 -5 thousand miles. He said it was something to do with the exhaust pipes. I can not remember how many times my brakes had to be changed and also just a month before my warranty expired I had to get rust fixed around my back wheel well. Of course they gave me a hard time but they fixed it twice because the first time looked terrible , I could have done better. Needless to say the rust came back with a fury it looks terrible,at least it is only in that one spot (strangely). Also the light cover on my front passenger door never stays on .

If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, this is it. There isnt a better value out there in my opinion. I did all the research and drove all the competetion and this is the winner hands down. You just cant go wrong with this Mazda!

  • Cool Car with A Few Problems - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Purchased my 6i in April 2003. One sweet looking car! Exciting handling and fun to drive. However, Ive had an ongoing problem with the rotors -- vibration during braking and at 60+mph speed. Also excessive front brake dust on rims, and clock on dash keeps losing time. In spite of these problems, I still like the car a lot.

the mazda 6 performs great is fun to drive and has a very sporty attractive appearance. Compared to similar cars on the market it has the most to offer with more standard options (ie: Honda Accord). The appearance package, lip spoiler, and sports grille added a lot to my vehicles sporty look.

over all the mazda6 is one of the finest cars ive ever owned. it drives very well. at first i was debating on getting the car, but now i am glad i did. my wife enjoys the way the car rides. the comfort and style are amazing for a mid size car. i have recommened to my friends that are looking for a mid sized car that delivers all that it advertises. this is with out a shadow of a doubt the car to buy thank you for building such a fine car. and changing the way i think about mazda. a true believer.

  • The bad side - 2003 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

After five years I have had many problems with my car i.e., headliner at rear window coming off on both sides, driver side visor broke, stereo has problems push CD changer and the A/M radio comes on, push change song on CD and CD ejects, lots of strange thing like that. The biggest problem is the transmission shifts really really hard like it slams into gear. Took it to a dealer they told me not a thing is wrong with it. One more thing the fan has a recall because it stays on long after car is off.

  • Best car I have ever owned - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

My V6 manual has been the best car I have ever owned. I purchased my 2003 Mazda 6 new in April 2004 and still drive it today (8/14/2014). The only thing that has gone wrong with this car in over 10 years is the water pump once went out and I had to replace a sagging headliner. I have over 150,000 miles on it and it drives as well today as the day I bought it. The paint, interior, and mechanical components have held up well. I read many of the reviews prior to writing this one which stated problems starting around the 50,000 mile mark. I am sure glad that has not been my experience. The car has been a pleasure to drive and almost like part of the family after so many years.

  • Best sedan for the money - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I got my 2003 6i with 33K on it fresh off a 3 year lease. I have had only 1 problem in the last 35K miles and that was a noisy drive belt idler. I replaced that and have not had any other issues. The car is easy to work on and easy to own. The only heartburn I have with the car is the turning radius, its awful. Other than that I love it. 30MPG combined hwy and city.

Since day one the car has been an eye catcher. Its handling is far superior than the gran prix gt i sold.Interior quality is great. Engine is strong but not as smooth or as powerful as my sons accord. Overall I am very satisfied with the car. A good choice and not expensive.
