This Year's Model Updates:

The Veracruz is a recent addition to the Hyundai lineup so little changes for the 2009 model year. All Veracruz models now include iPod-friendly USB and auxiliary ports, and the GLS can be ordered with Premium and Preferred option packages. Finally, a new monochromatic all-black paint scheme is offered in an effort to keep the biggest Hyundai's look in line with other luxury crossover vehicles.

Pros:
  • Great value, upscale interior, nice balance of ride and handling, good crash test scores, long warranty.
Cons:
  • Not as spacious as some other large crossovers, numb steering.

  • My first SUV Experience - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Until now it is been a sort of dream. May be because it is my first experience of a SUV, but even though I like it, as I have some good experience on other cars, like MAZDA 323, Renault 21, KIA Rocster ( actually this is a SUV, so I am a litle bit experienced now, and Sephia II, also known as Pectractor, in some Countries.

  • GLS with Premium Package - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Purchased the GLS with Premium package vs. the Limited package due to price differential. The GLS with premium only sacrifices a couple of options. We did not want the NAV package since portable units suffice well. The car rides and handles well and is very comfortable and meets all of our expectations. The only problem encountered was the road tires were overinflated 48 vs. 30 recommended and the spare was underinflated 30 vs. 60psi recommended. The prep should have caught these items. We have taken two trips of over 300 miles and are well satisfied with the driving experience.

  • Great SUV - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Weve had this Veracruz for about 6 months now and really love the ride and feel. The Best Hyundai Ive ever owned. The only complaints I have that are common with Hyundai is a few rattle and squeaks. Gas mileage just plain stinks in the city, we average about 15 with 80% city 20% hwy. I did take a long road trip and we got about 23 with a little stop and go traffic. Overall we are very happy with our purchase.

Just purchased this vehicle. It seems to be extremely well built, rides like a dream, has classy interior, great looking. My wife absolutely loves the vehicle. Replaced a 2007 Santa Fe Limited with this unit. Hyundai has really made huge inroads into the Luxury SUV field.

This is a crossover with the ride of a cruse ship. The car has so many bells and whistles. Have it one week and already over 1100 miles. Finding wonderful things about it every day. Could be the best car ever.

  • I LOVE IT! - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

I had been shopping for a new vehicle for around 3 months. I had it down to a Nissan Morano, Toyota Rav4 (6cylinder) and the Toyota Highlander. Driving home from work one night I noticed a Veracruz in the lane next to me and I liked the way it looked and decided to test drive it that weekend. I wound up buying it that day. Driving is a pleasure. Brakes are great, steering it agile, ride is smooth for a SUV. Its quick with its 3.8 engine and it doesnt take premium gas like the Morano. Why arent there more of these on the road? I tell everyone its a hidden secret. Until you test drive one youll understand why.

  • Great SUV, why no advertising? - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

After checking out the Ford Flex, the Toyota Highlander & the Chevy Traverse, I went with the Veracruz initially due to the price advantage & the warranty. Now that Ive had it a month, I am very glad I got this SUV. Its great to drive, has tons of great features. Hyundai needs to advertise this great SUV!

  • Very pleased so far - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Spotted the VC when I went to look at the Muranos next door. Never entered the Nissan dealership. Most SUV for the money, hands down. I could not believe the build and material quality when I got in it. My other car is a Lincoln Towncar and the VC is as luxurious in every way, and even quieter. Not a full-sized SUV, but seats 7. Could be longer to provide space behind row 3. GLS with premium package should have power passenger seat, and auto AC but doesnt. For 19 mpg combined, could have more power (260 hp). Ford makes a V6 with 355 hp. Europe has it in diesel, US does not. No maintenance issues whatsoever. Shiftronic trans great on hills.

  • Nice but for chicks - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Handles really good but a bit lag when @ green light, helps save gas i guess. Got it @ 110 miles, My wife and I first new car, course i favor it more because she liked it and the safety for our kids, Im pretty tall so i wish seats go back further for leg room. Matt came with the suv. Heated seat not needed in Hawaii but the a/c is very cold so we might as well use it. lol. Factory speakers inadequate so i upgraded.
