This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has made a number of enhancements to the 2004 Honda S2000. Most importantly, a larger 2.2-liter engine has been fitted. This, along with revised transmission gearing, is meant to improve power delivery. Other changes include updated suspension tuning, 17-inch wheels (16s were the previous standard), upgraded brakes, larger tailpipes and restyled front and rear bumpers with new headlights and taillights. Inside, there's a new center console (with two cupholders and a storage tray) and a bit more shoulder, elbow and hiproom for the driver and passenger. All Honda cars have a new seatbelt reminder system this year.

Pros:
  • Agile chassis, rev-happy engine, minimalist design, optional hardtop, high level of performance for the price.
Cons:
  • Still not much low-end torque, no passenger airbag cut-off switch.

  • 4th S2000 Ive owned. So far the best! - 2004 Honda S2000

The title is correct. Ive owned 4 of these amazing roadsters. 2007, 2002, 2003 and now a 2004. The 2007 had the VSA and the throttle-by-wire feature where there is no physical throttle cable to the manifold. The larger 2.2 engine in the later models makes commuting easier and less noisy. The earlier ones rev higher, are louder and (in my opinion) faster. The 2004 is my favorite so far. Not as encumbered with electrical nannies. The immediacy of the throttle mirrors the earlier model and the styling changes are very much to my liking. Overall this is a great car for any enthusiast. Ive owned many cars and this is the most visceral car Ive owned. My advice is get one while you still can!

  • Tough Decision - - 2004 Honda S2000

I love this car. I love the way it handles, I love the way it accelerates, and I love the way it feels zooming down the highway at 80 mph with the wind rushing by. I bought a used 2004 with 39,800 miles on it and in amazingly good condition for about $18,000 hoping to have both a fun car to drive and an investment that would maintain or lose very little value over time. I nailed it. I show the car a few times a year and still find myself clearing my calendar when the weather is going to be good so I can take it for a nice long drive. Tough decision? Drive it or store it? Driving is a blast, but storing it will only increase the value (or bleeds out the value more slowly).

Amazing vehicle, I drive it daily and I dont believe there is a more fun to drive vehicle that is this dependable. I have taken to drag strip, ran great times, had around BMS a few laps and no issues. Do the maintenance and drive it. I do not have one complaint.

What a great car. Like a motorcycle with four wheels. I have had zero problems. Handles like its on rails. Full size golf bag fits in trunk, just dont try two!

  • The little Rocket - 2004 Honda S2000

This little car handle like a rocket.I own a 2007 Honda Si, this car handle well, but not as good as the S2000. Well, if you want to hear this little rocket vtec kicks, shift to first gear and accelerate until you hit 8000 rpm and shift to second gear and will will know what I am talking about. Dont believe me! Try it for yourself.

  • My #2 car. The Z is #1. - 2004 Honda S2000

Fun to drive, but way too small. The top does not impresses as much as the Z top. A good car.

  • The Ride of My Life - 2004 Honda S2000

The minute I saw this car on the road I had to have it. I called my brother (he works at a Honda dealership out of town) and asked the price and then told him to wrap it up and deliver it. From the day I took delivery, it has been the ride of my life.

This car has destined to be a classic. It has all the quality that honda is known for and world class sports car handling and power. It holds a curve as well as any car Ive been in and the 240 hp VTEC is just too big a temptation to resist. The buckets seats are remarkably comfortable for extended periods and you WILL want to drive it for long periods.

  • My Black Roadster - 2004 Honda S2000

At 60-years young Ive been a car nut most of my adult life. I have to admit the S2 is the most fun machine Ive driven. Value?... you would have to pay thousands more to get a roadster with the handling, performance, & styling of the S2. Id like to know the process or the nut who figured the S2 @ 20 mpg! Im on my 2nd S2 the very worst Ive gotten, driving hard in the mountains, was 22 mpg, Ill average 24 mpg on the highway 27 mpg.

  • What a blast!! - 2004 Honda S2000

This little yellow car flies. Ive test driven the Boxster, TT 225 HP, Z3, Z4, M Roadster (used) and wasnt in love with any of them. When I hopped into my S2000, I knew before I left the parking lot that I would buy it. I love this little car. It flies. Really fun. The irony is that I really do care about having a good stereo. But on this car, I made a huge exception because of the performance. Its that much fun. If youre thinking of buying a two-seater convertible, you owe it yourself to check out this car. Youll buy it if you give it a chance!!
