  • exceptional truck for being almost 20 years old - 1996 Ford F-250

The 7.3 turbo diesel is excellent tied to the 5 speed manual transmission. The drivers seat is comfortable after 200k while the interior is like new for its age. awesome heat in the winter and cold factory ac in the summer. Owned for 3 years after purchase replaced turbocharger, glow plugs and o rings on fuel injectors, waterpump and fuel lift pump. Would recommend removing ebpv on turbo as it sticks in the winter which can cause your turbo bearings to go out as did on my truck.

Over the last 160k miles this truck has been excellent. The 7.3L Power Stroke really is an amazing engine. Its got an incredible amount of torque on tap weve never had a single issue with it. Im confident that I could tow or haul just about anything with this truck. Youve also got to love that classic styling. Id be lying if I said there havent been a few fairly expensive repairs, but almost all of the major components still run like the day it was driven off the lot. Its spent its entire life in Colorado so its seen plenty of (sometimes very deep) snow, which its handled excellently. They dont use salt on the roads in most of the state, so theres surprisingly little rust.

only a couple small problems with it, the factory transmition was replaced (under warranty) in about a month from buying. and that is about it. will haul just about anything, i had a huge almost 40 foot camper with loft on top, (not a ultra light, normal hitch) going up a hill, when the old antifreeze (scratch that, ancient) decides to use the overflow hose. they placed the end right on top of the exhaust. wasnt pretty, but it made it the rest of the way. then we towed a large shed behind it. one story tall, all wood. diddent even notice it was there. now it plows the drivway, 9 foot plow and it pushes anything. love it

I love the power and braking, added try Y headers and it became a whole new engine and better mpg. I get 12 on the fwy and 9 in town. This is a daily driver that tows occasionally (10 mpg towing) and off roads on the weekend. Capt. chairs are good but armrests are to high for me (I am a tall guy). Got the manual shifted transfer case so the solenoid wouldnt fail me in the mud (experience from the dealership I worked at). Installed manual locking 4x4 hubs. I have had this truck airborne off roading before and broke steering box but was still able to drive home and then to work to put new one in. I have never messed with the A/C system and it still blows cold, not so great in southern California traffic.

I have owned new and old Ford p/u. The body styles of these trucks are the best. The last 1994 Ford I had I finally sold at 523,000 miles this one now has 212,000 miles. Not a problem yet.

I brought this truck 2 years old with 30,000 miles on it. Since then Ive put 170,000 miles on it without changing anything other than the battery. I havent even been real good about the maintenance. Tranny fluid changed twice and the oil (only synthetic) every 5-8,000 miles, but I did have dual oil filters on it til the hose burst.

  • What a truck - 1997 Ford F-250

I have owned this truck for 11 years and have done very little other than scheduled maintenance. I have hauled trailers up mountains, gone 4 wheeling over very large boulders, driven very long stretches with no problems what- so-ever. I have 198,000 miles on the odometer and have been amazed by the continued reliability of this truck. Ford has my business for life!

This truck has 240,000 miles, I change oil every 3000 mi. Had to replace 4 wheel drive system (auto) with warn hubs, this is a must, and a transmission at 70k. Placed seat covers, interior is 95% like new, dry Ariz climate, no rust, garaged its entire life. I receive offers at intersections to purchase at 12,000 dollars! I would not part with this truck, and when engine goes away, at what I estimate about 400k, I will place a crated 7.3 for approx 6, k, as a replacement truck is well over 38k, and give it to my son. Ive pulled my 4000 lb. Boat up and down the mountains, pass other pickups without a trailer in tow. Its a bulldog of reliability. I love it. Lakeman88. Tucson az

I bought this truck used from my father 12 years ago, he bought it new. I just turned over 330k on it on my way to work today. You just cant beat that. It still can do everything I need it to and still looks and drives great. Dont think I will be in the new truck market for another 12 years or so, maybe longer
