This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado 2500HD now sports a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models also get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado offers numerous entertainment options including a Bose stereo system (with rear-seat controls on crew cab models), XM Satellite Radio and a rear-passenger DVD-based entertainment system (crew cab models only). The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. On the hardware side, the standard 6.0-liter V8 gets electronic throttle control, as well as the ability to run exclusively on compressed natural gas (CNG) or a mix of CNG and gasoline.

Pros:
  • Powerful engine lineup, multiple drivetrain configurations, capable brakes, substantial towing and hauling capacities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, mediocre interior materials.

  • No problems - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Purchased vehicle 2 years old with about 32000 miles. I have had zero problems with the truck. It has fifth wheel for pulling gooseneck trailers. Long bed has plenty of room for large tool box and extra gear. Normally carry 3000-4000lb payloads when needed, it does this effortlessly.

  • Great truck! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Does everything as expected. Plenty of power, plenty of room. I am very happy with this truck. Just the typical minor maintenance stuff. It pulls my boat like its not even there. 13 mpgs isnt bad for a 7000 lb. truck.

  • GET A 5-SPD IF YOU WANT BETTER MILEAGE - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

these really are great trucks, and they dont have to get awful mileage. i am averaging 14.5 in town (i never get on the highway) with the 6.0 liter, 5 speed and 4.10 rear end. everything is stock, but am going to add a K&N filter and bigger tires soon. this is my 4th chevy PU in a row and i had 225,000 on my last one. nothing wrong with it, just got tired of driving it.

Good strong truck. Will buy another. But I will miss that 496 C.I.D.

  • Great Chevy Diesel!! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
    By -

My first diesel, and a great one. I am a Hot Shot driver and travel all types of roads and conditions all over the country. It is my home away from home. People come up to me whenever I stop for fuel and start a conversation regarding my truck. The fuel mileage is good, 17 to 18 mpg average. The ride is comfortable. I will purchase another Chevy when this one wears out...many years down the road.

  • 2500HD LS GOOD TO GO - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

I have previously owned 3 chevys and the 2500HD is leaps and bounds above the rest. Before purchasing the 2500HD, I seriously looked at and test drove the Ford and Dodge trucks. Chevrolet is in a class by itself (which is above Ford and Dodge). Nice ride, plenty of power, nice interior and the exterior looks great. Great move by chevy with the "real" information center, bose stereo system and the roomy and "very comfortable" back seat.

  • Too Many Repairs - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

I bought this vehicle with the greatest of expectations. Duramax iesel, Allison trans. what a dream. It turned into a nightmare. The Injectors have been replaced 2 times, it seems that every time I turn around it is breaking. Heater, speedometer, transmision, the list and $$ go on and on, and this was all under 60000 miles but over the 36000 mile warranty. I have always been a GM corporation fan. They have always been good to me. This one makes me want to say GM you need a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper or Im going to Toyota, Sorry. I hate to disrespect one of my idols but they just dont seem to have the quality or dependability I demand. So GM here it is 100,000 bumper/bumper or adios

  • Lousy - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
    By -

This is a lousy vehicle. Should have bought a Ford. From being four inches higher to a six speed manual transmission that is virtually impossible to use to a crack under the center seat which lets things fall onto the floor to annoying reflection from the radio lights on the rear window, this truck is totally unworthy of the name Chevrolet. Its no wonder sales are down 27%.
