For 2006, Volvo has rearranged some of the S40's option packages and revised the cupholders. Steering wheel-mounted satellite audio controls are now standard on the 2.4i trim, and the six-speed manual transmission on T5 models gains a pushdown function to engage reverse. There are also new 16- and 17-inch wheel designs and a new optional air filtration system for the T5 that Volvo says goes beyond traditional carbon filters to help reduce occupant exposure to carbon monoxide.

  I went on a "rainy" day just to keep it safe and not make a purchase knowing i had other cars to consider. Well, that certaintly didnt work as planned because once I drove the automatic knowing I ONLY wanted a manual in the rain, I could not believe the stability. I felt so safe cause Im such a chicken when it comes to driving in the rain that it sold itself! Though Im so picky I had to do a special order (Manual, Red, Climate, Sport & Select Pkg w/ beige interior) and cant wait for it to come from Europe. The premium sounds is out of control too. Its going to be a looker. I must say its a chicks car- Definitely!

  Handles awesome! good aceleration, great looking interior and exterior. Drove the Infiniti g35 and Audi A4 both great cars although $$$ more for the same car, save your money this car rocks!

  I ditched my dying 97 Dodge Avenger for the S40 T5 and havent looked back. The T5 is definitely the way to go. My partner has a 06 3-series and I wouldnt trade with him for a second. Styling, build quality and performance are top notch. Only negative comment I have is the city MPG isnt that great. Even then, I wouldnt hesitate recommending this car to anybody.

  I am in love with this Volvo. The car handles amazingly. It rides firm as if it were built for performance only, but doesnt loose the luxury car feel. The power of the turbo inline 5 is excellent, and handles the mountains of western PA like no other car I have owned.

  I just bought this car in June 05 and it was worth the money I spent. I am a short person and this car really conforms to my height. I have never been so comfortable driving in a vehicle before. The gear-tronic is a lot of fun.

  My wife and I bought our S40 in dec05 we have had a blast driving this car. we have had no problems just big smiles. The S40 gives a touch of class to the moderate spender. my wife drives it as her daily comuter and feels the Volvo sense of safety and good looks give this one a big thumbs up. Having had toyotas and Hondas all our lives this ones a step in a different direction, you will feel the european touch inside and out. As you wind through the canyons or comute on the freeway the sense of a high dollar sports car is what you get, without the price tag. We now have that car that sits in that driveway that gets the looks, you know the one its the Volvo S40. Oh thats right its mine!

  This is the best Volvo Ive ever owned (240, 850, V70, XC90). It is extremely quick, holds a corner very well, very small turning radius and great fun to drive. I drove every car in this class and this is the best deal for the money. The new 06 Lexus IS feels like you are driving a casket, no sound, no feedback, no feel, wont see the accident coming. The BMW 3 is very nice but much more expensive when equipped the same and has such a vain "look at me, poser" quality not shared by Volvo. Acura suspensions rattle your jaw and bones when rolling over a pebble. This one wins by far just for the feel of driving it.

  I was surprised when I first drove it. The handling feels great although it just needs a bit more power. After the first year, the car wont start after I filled up with gas so I had to call 24-hour roadside support (which I like).

  This is my first Volvo. I was considering BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, even Lexus. Value for dollar, and the fact that the Volvo IS the safest vehicle on the road (I did my homework), it was a clear choice: Volvo. I am in love with this car! The dealership here in Las Vegas treats me like a king. Ive never had such a wonderful car buying experience.

  This is the best car I have ever owned. I have always owned 4-cyl cars, and I am amazed at what a difference 1 more cylinder makes. It feels rock solid and handles like a dream. Volvo safety combined with a great look, sporty styling. There is nothing about this car that I dont love - this is not your uncles Volvo!
