This Year's Model Updates:

Volkswagen shuffles equipment around, creating Turbo, Komfort (Ja, that's with a "K"), Lux and VR6 trim levels for the 2008 Volkswagen Passat line. Rear side sunshades are now standard on all Passats, as is a power driver seat. Formerly known as the 3.6L, the Passat VR6 gains adaptive bi-xenon headlights as standard equipment. In addition, the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is now standard on VR6 wagons.

Pros:
  • Ample power with either engine, balanced ride and handling, spacious seating for all, elegant cabin with exemplary fit and finish, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • Prohibitively expensive with the V6 engine, options-laden four-cylinder models are pricey, too, excessive road noise with 17- or 18-inch wheels, poor fuel economy on 4Motion models.

If you want a European car, the VW Passat VR6 is outstanding! Great value compared to other German cars. The clean style, design, fit & finish in my Passat is beautiful. A lot of people cant believe its a VW! And I saved $$$! The car has been reliable on top of a 4 yr 50K warranty. The list of standard features is huge! Ive owned lots of cars, German, Japanese and American made, this Passat is clearly a great car for the money! If youre looking for a mid-size car, check out and drive the Passat, it will win you over! If you can afford the VR6, youll enjoy the extra power, handling and soft leather seats that will cradle you! Combined gas mileage has been 21+ mpg for my fast driving.

Was initially interested in a Mazda6 for a long time. Made the mistake of sitting in a Passat CC first, went to Mazda and wasnt impressed, the German design and meticulous attention to detail is phenomenal. (Its the little things) cleverly designed umbrella holder in door, pull-up window shades, radar for adaptive cc and parking assistance, bi xenon headlights, LED tails, cargo and shopping bag hooks in trunk, heated side mirrors that point to curb when reversing, auto door lock, moon roof, rain sensing wipers that you dont even have to touch, wonderful lighting and dash, power windows all around, 4 cup holders, secret compartments. Powerful v6 engine with paddle shifters! Whooo- weee!

Never thought Id drive a VW. Have owned BMW, Infiniti, Acura, Audi, and this car is my favorite. I wanted a wagon not an SUV, and I insist on comfortable seats. Moved up to the 4Motion for the seat, and they are the best. Handling and power are impressive. The car has absolutely no roll. Plenty of power but getting 23 mpg. Paddle shifters are fun. Just an outstanding package, worth the stiff price. If you want a wagon, the options are limited, but this one stands up to any sedan in comfort, power, styling and engineering.

  • Best midsized sedan out there by far! - 2008 Volkswagen Passat

We researched and drove Accord, Camry, and various other makes including Audi and Volvo. The Passat is the "Just Right" car in this segment. With plenty of power and fuel economy topped off with nice styling and comfort, this car suits my aggressive driving style, my wifes stylish taste, and my two kids space necessity. VW has won again!!

  • Great Car! Fun to Drive! German Engineering! - 2008 Volkswagen Passat

So far, Ive owned the car for about 5 months and I bought it Certified Pre-Owned. If you decide to buy a used one,go CPO. The car had 30k miles on it and its covered up to 50k on minor things and 80k on major items. I have had the car in the shop for 2 items already though- they were under warranty. Noticed hard down shifting- they had to replace the valve cover or something with the tranny. Now drives like a sports car. This car is so fun to drive!!! Sports mode is really fun! Im married with one on the way so my days of buying sporty 2 seaters is over- this provides the best of both worlds. 2.0T is fun and fast, kinda wish I woulda bought the v6 though, test drove it and it has lots pwr

Came out of a Volvo turbo, and there is no comparison to the quietness, pep and comfort.

  • Excellent Choice - 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Traded an 02 BMW X5 and at this point, mind you its been 3 days, couldnt be happier. The feel of this vehicle will rival any other German made car on the road. The ride is a little rougher than the X5, which is ironic for a car vs SUV comparison, but you "feel" the road which makes the drive that much more enjoyable. Having driven it to work, for the past 3 days, I have put a total of 205 miles on it and am still above 1/2 tank of gas. Nice bonus considering the price per gallon. The features/amenities are definitely high end. Originally a little hesitant about making the switch but the quality/ performance eliminated that.

Great car so far but its only been a week. My wife is the primary driver and loves it over her minivan. It is sportier than my 2001.5 Passat. Interior is nicely done. Kids love the sun shades.
