The big news for 2004 is the addition of a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine to the lineup late in the model year. The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is a delayed option on 1.8T-equipped GLS models. Also note that the 2.8-liter V6 is no longer available on GLS models. The premium Monsoon stereo and Homelink are now standard on all GLS models, while wood trim has been added to the optional Leather Package. The ESP stability control system is now standard on the GLX. Rounding out the changes are restyled 15- and 16-inch wheels and new side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

• Expensive upper-level models, less rear-seat room than some competitors, some confusing interior controls.

  Wow, I really do love this car. I have a 2004 silverstone grey Passat turbo, I love it so much. I was going to get an Accord, but decided to be a little different. Every time I wash this car which is like 3 times a week I fall in love with it again. I cant believe an 18 year old kid (myself) is driving such a hot car. I get a lot of looks, and it is very classy to go out on dates in. The engine never disappoints, does not make me want a V6. I commute with this car to school on the highway everyday, it holds the road, is solid, handles amazing in the rain and shine, and has a confident safe feeling to it. I am definitely going to get another Passat when my lease is up in 2008. GET A PASSAT!!!!!!

  Ive had the Passat about nine months now and still love it. Very peppy engine with great acceleration (and I should know..everyone claims Im a speed demon).Very smooth gear shift. Have not had any problems at all with the car.

  I just got at passat and i absolutley love it. I researched a wide array of vehicles for aobout a year and looked at and drove several different makes and models. From the beginning I loved the passat, and after looking at and evaluating other cars in its class, it totally blew them away. The more I drive it, the more I love it.

  With 50k of miles my VW is holding up well. No problems except the ECU for the dash needed to be replaced. I love the high quality feel of the interior and driving dynamics. The 17" alloys dont detract from the feel of the ride and look great. The beige interior gets dirty very quick tho so its not recommended for families with young children. The 1.8T with the automatic has tons of turbo lag but I can live with it.

  The Passat GLX V6 combines a wonderful, stylish, toutonic design and a flawless drivetrain. As some say there are not enough "os" in smooth to discribe its performance.

  I actually have a 2001.5, but little has changed and its a great car! The car looks great, its fast enough to be fun to drive (though it might be underpowered compared to competitors) and its very luxurious, which helps with enjoying the car on a day-to-day basis. Ive had the car for over 3 years now, lease is almost up and Im even thinking of buying the car b/c its so great for my family & fun for me.

  This is the first car I have ever owned. I was so happy the day I got it. I picked it out from color to package. I got everything I wanted and was thrilled. Well that is were the fairytale ends. The dealership has been horrible to work with and this car has problems after problems. First the side molding broke. We have no idea how. Took it in to be fixed along with a door that would not close. Well they fixed the door, but not the molding. The homelink system fell out next. The radio does not work now and the kicker is just tonight I went outside to pack the car for a trip and I have three inches of water in my back floor board. My car is leaking.

  This is the first wagon Ive owned after over 20 years of driving Japanese sedans. Many years ago, a station wagon purchase was unthinkable because of the image; now, the requirements of job and family make it necessary. But whod have thought that this would be one of the most enjoyable vehicles Ive ever driven? Its fast, extremely stylish, the interior has loads of helpful automation, and drives so beautifully that even my practical wife ditches her Toyota Sienna and sneaks out with the VW when Im not driving it. And though Ive never associated wagons with a stylish exterior look, Im surprised at how many strangers have made favorable comments.
