This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, a base GL sedan and wagon are available. Think of the GL as a GLS 1.8T for buyers who don't require any extras like alloy wheels, leather upholstery, seat heaters or a sunroof. Meanwhile, alloy wheels and sunroof are now standard on GLS models. The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system will not be offered on GLS V6 models, forcing interested buyers to cross the 30-grand line; however, VW has made stability control (ESP) optional on all Passats (except the W8, which has this standard). Also this year, you'll be able to get W8 sedans and wagons with a six-speed manual transmission and a sport package that includes a firmer suspension and the requisite 17-inch wheels. Lastly, the standard stereo head unit gets backlighting for the buttons.

Pros:
  • Fun to drive, excellent value in GL or GLS trim, roomy interior with upscale feel, outstanding build and materials quality, available all-wheel drive.

Went to test VW Passats and was aimed to purchase a more economicaly solution to a new car (1.8T engine). After test driving all 3 engine types the W8 was the only option I could see worth my $$$. The engine is smooth and powerful enough for me at 275HP. Good MPG for an 8 cylinder(have gotten up to 25+ on the highways cruising). It rides like butter around town and on the freeway it is a dream. The AWD(4motion) coupled with snow tires handles like no car I have owned in the snow. The manu- tronic transmission is a but sluggish at times. Overall a great car with more than enough performance and luxury for me. Debadge the lid and you will defientley have a sleeper.

  • Passion and fun. Something different. - 2003 Volkswagen Passat

We did a lot of research on this vehicle. We looked at the Honda Accord and Audi A4. For the price and the quality, we couldnt beat the Passat. The last thing we wanted was a passionless and indistinctive car. We chose the Passat for its balance of price, quality, good looks and German engineering. Its just a fun car to be in!

We bought a Reflex Silver Passat with gray leather interior and we love it. I shopped around and looked at the Accord, the Maxima, the Honda Pilot, the Toyota Camry and we just kept coming back to the Passat because it looked so good. We are very pleased so far with everything.

Excellent mileage and easy to manuever in and out of small places. Good stability - Appears heavier than it actually is so it holds the road well. Comfortable to drive with 3 seat controls. Fanatastic Monsoon audio sound. Cold weather package includes heated washer tips and rear view mirror defrosters

4 Motion, All wheel drive, W8: Overall, it was a great purchase for the price. It is by all means a luxury car. Our only complaint is that the check engine light has been on since the purchase (8 months) and two dealerships and three visits have yet to be able to find the issue, it there even is one. Please note that this car takes synthetic oil so you will pay more for regular changes. Also, it takes a person with higher than average mechanical skills to work on the car personally. So, even minor issues will usually have to be taken car of professionally (the engine is enclosed).

More power than most small 8 cylinders; standard equipment is better than most luxury cars. Ive own BMW, Mercedes, several Lexus cars, but this is the most fun car Ive ever had.

Wasnt sure if I was going to like a 4 Cylinder after having a Loaded GLX VR6 for 7 Years, but I love it. The Tiptronic transmission is smoother and more responsive than the one in my wifes C Class Mercedes. All the extra space is awesome, especially with a new baby. The safety features are very comforting.4 Wheel, ABS, Traction Control,Electronic Stabilization/ Front, side and curtain airbags all for $23,000. The rear seatbelt locks and there are tether hooks on the backs of the seat and anchors underneath them, making car seat installation a breeze.

I really love this car! It handles exceptionally well and is quick. The color selection was great and the vehicle is a winner in my book.

Very solid ride and power when you need it. Handles great and gives you a true feel for the road. Highway driving is smooth and effortless. I am leasing but think I may actually buy this time!
