Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Jetta models get an updated look, optional telematics and a new and more powerful 1.9-liter TDI engine (GL and GLS models only). The 2.0-liter engine is now PZEV-rated, and the GLX trim is no longer available. Also note that you can no longer get the 1.8T engine in GL trim. Besides that, the GLI sedan sports new 17-inch alloy wheels and the Cold Weather Package items (heated seats and washer nozzles) as standard, while the GLS features a standard Monsoon stereo. The wagons get a revised instrument cluster late in the model year, and the sedans get new metallic trim rings around the gauges.
- Powerful 1.8T and VR6 engines, fuel-efficient TDI power plant, fun to drive, comfortable ride, rich interior materials, loads of standard safety features, solid build quality.
- More expensive than most small sedans and wagons, tight rear-seat legroom, weak base four-cylinder.

Jetta 1.8 T - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By joejetta04 - July 26 - 2:00 amSolidly built with attention to detail. This car is a lot of fun to drive, and you are seated in a first class cabin. The interior is of Audi quality and comfort. Safety features such as 6 airbags, and traction control are standard. If you are shopping for a small sedan, take this one for a test drive.

Jetta tires in snow - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By susankha - July 26 - 2:00 amGot the Jetta TDI to "help the environment" because of its great fuel economy, and I drive SO much. I loved it the whole eleven days I got to drive it. The stock tires (all season tires) CANNOT handle any snow. There was a light snow and I was travelling on a road that hadnt seen much traffic when the back end whipped out on a slight curve. Ended up in a head-on collision. I give the car a fantastic rating for safety, and I recommend the car hightly, but for heavens sake, get snow tires immediately!!!!!

Jetta137 - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jetta137 - June 14 - 11:20 amThis is my fifth VW Jetta. This car is the best one that I have ever had. I have never had a problem with it. The Jetta GLI is nice but not reliable. It also doesnt have heated seats, armrest, and more stuff. The GLS has got EVERYTHING. Its a luxury car. The GLS is better for transportation. Right now my Jetta has 74,500 miles. It is a great car and fun to drive. You will love the GLS TURBO. What a great car!

Turning Heads - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By CSM1969 - June 8 - 10:00 amThe new GLI 1.8T (2004) has got to be one of the most explosive Jettas yet. Everywhere I go, people are oohing and aahing at the sleek (european) styling, that of BMW and Mercedes.Your everyday demeanor flies out of the window as soon as you let out the clutch and the daily stresses seem to have disappeared when shifting into 6th gear. I have found myself early to rise on the weekends, so I can get my car onto the mountain roads of Colorado where the GLI is at home.

Great little car - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By thomas6 - June 2 - 10:00 amThis my first VW very impress with built quality similar to a BMW. The car handle great with lots of power and comforts. My only complaint was the service by the dealership. T he last time I took my car for service to replace my cup holder. I ask them to fill up the fuel tank, but instead filling it up diesel fuel the technician fill it with gasoline. Therefore the stopped in the middle of the street as soon as I drove it off the dealership.

Volkswagen For Life - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By The Welders - April 20 - 10:00 amLast year I bought a Volkswagen Golf for my daughter who was getting ready to go away to college. I wanted her to have a reliable, trusty car to get her there and back when she needed. Ill tell you what, that car has done wonders as far as gas mileage, maintenance, etc... it has such sporty handling and remarkable brakes, I had to get a Volkswagen for myself! So, just this week I went out and bought a brand new Jetta and it is the most pleased Ive ever been with a new car. The Volkswagen dealers are so incredibly informative and helpful.

Turbo-COOL - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By K FROM TX - February 5 - 2:00 amI did a lot of research on small cars for about 6 months. I test drove quite a few and came to the conclusion that VW Jetta was for me. It sold me- sporty, classy & fast car at such a great price. It is just the car I was looking for to commute around the Ft. Worth & Dallas area. The Stereo system kicks butt!-if you are like (me) MUSIC is a big part of my life. I am a totally satified consumer!
