  • Good for cheap transportation - 2009 Toyota Yaris
    By -

My 2003 Hyundai Accent 4dr got totaled in a rear end collision so I got a Yaris because it was the cheapest new car I could find. Its not a hot rod, but has good acceleration for around town and getting on the highway when I need to. Its roomier than it looks and at least for me, more comfortable than the Hyundai, and it feels more solid. Driving in daily stop and go traffic, Im getting 32mpg. The solid feel of the car combined with front and side airbags make me feel safe on the road in it. Handling is good and the car is a pleasure to drive. I hope the stories Ive heard about Toyota reliability are true, because I want to keep this car for a long time.

  • So far, awesome! - 2009 Toyota Yaris

I have only had this car four months and I already have 20,000 miles and nothing has gone wrong. I am in my car all day for about 175 miles on average and I have nothing to complain about. Sure its not the fastest thing in the world but who expected that? And everything else about it is perfect. Mine stays in a straight line for hours. Not to mention perfect gas mileage for not even being hybrid. I may not know everything but I love this car.

  • Hybrid-like gas mileage. - 2009 Toyota Yaris

This is the closest youre going to get to a hybrid, without an electric or diesel motor. Right now Im averaging about 36 mpg with aggressive 60/40 city/hwy driving. And get over 40 mpg hwy. Its an amazing car, with the room and comfort of some mid-sized vehicles. I also drive a Tacoma, and have found the Yaris more comfortable. Contrary to other posts, I have found my Yaris auto to be quite peppy. It wont set speed records, but its very practical. I got a feeling that this will be a keeper for a long time to come.

  • Driving fun!! - 2009 Toyota Yaris

I traded my 2005 Corolla for the Yaris 2 door hatchback w/power package. My insurance decrease, my payment dropped significantly, and I get lots of oohs and ahhs from friends and colleagues. The car is extremely economical. Im getting a tad under 34 mpg around town: I have yet to do the highway, longer drive scenario. It is roomier than the Corolla was.... has more safety features, and is just fun to drive. Its a great second car backed by Toyota reliability!

  • Great car - 2009 Toyota Yaris

I bought a preowned 2009 Yaris S in January with 77,500 miles on it. Have put 16,000 miles on it since. Its an amazing car. Decent gas mileage, relatively quiet and very reliable. Ive had no issues with it other than a headlight going out (which my mechanic didnt even charge to replace). Im 63 and I fit fine in it. Does have trouble with going up mountain, but with 106 horsepower, you have to accept that. Would be nice if it had automatic looks, but thats not too big a deal. I would suggest a Yaris to anyone. This is also after I had a 2000 Echo that I drove for six years and got rid of with 199,800 miles on it.

  • Too Cute for Words - 2009 Toyota Yaris

Having weathered the past 3 years in an expensive German car lease (including $4.75 unleaded premium), I am a good example of the change in trend of consumer behavior. Bought my Yaris after a quick test drive and am in love with this cute little car. I obviously wanted (and needed) a car that was both inexpensive to own and operate, but also stylishly quirky and fun to drive.

  • Small Car, Big Performance - 2009 Toyota Yaris

This small gas-sipping car is really a sleeper. It doesnt look fast, but considering it has only a 4 cyl. engine, it is QUICK. My wife and I both have marveled at how quickly youre doing more than the speed limit. Good thing we got cruise control!! Lots of legroom, more than a Corolla or an Accord. Headroom is a bit tight if youre over 6 tall. Just a fun, zippy little car with great gas mileage. Youll feel like youre driving a sports car.

  • Good car but others have gotten better - 2009 Toyota Yaris
    By -

Our Yaris is a 2008 and we are now 3 1/2 years and 36,000 miles into our ownership. Car has been perfectly reliable and exceeds EPA ratings, we regularly see 40 to 44 mpg highway, 30+ in town. Roomy up front, with lots of legroom, but narrow. Backseat has enough legroom & headroom for 6-footers and under. Large trunk. Lots of storage pockets, the center gauges are no problem, and the interior is pretty nice. Less road noise than the Fit. Problems: The engine has enough power, but the 4 speed automatic needs another gear or two. Driving position is terrible for taller drivers; the wheel is too far away, and the pedals too close. Pay attention to this during your test drive.

  • A Pleasant Surprise - 2009 Toyota Yaris
    By -

My intention was to purchase a Camry because I prefer larger cars but I took a look at the Yaris as a basis of comparison. I was pleasantly surprised with the room this car has inside. Outside it appears very small, esp. the 2-door. This is why I chose the sedan. Inside is really cavernous. It came with ABS & side airbags standard & gas mileage is AMAZING. Quality is great. If it was cheaper by $1000 it would be a perfect 10 in my book.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2009 Toyota Yaris

Have the 4 door Hatchback with 4 cylinder. Can only go about 40 until the car warms up. Ice and snow build up between the frame and the tires, the scissor jack needs to be replaced
