Overview & Reviews
There are no major changes to this year's Toyota wagon, although new SAE testing procedures have resulted in lower horsepower ratings.
- Versatile cargo area, roomy rear seats, good gas mileage, generous standard equipment list, availability of all-wheel drive and stability control.
- Modest torque output, less fun to drive than its styling suggests.

i hate hub caps - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By dangading - May 11 - 6:50 pmIve had my Matrix going on 4 years now and although its been really great, I have recently run into a couple of problems. For 1, it hasnt had hub caps for years! They fall off too easily. After reading this, Im sure youll see plenty of non xr models with no hubs. Also, the accelerators are cableless and if something goes wrong with it, you have to replace the whole system ($1000 for the part). Why not use cables? At least you can afford to fix it when it fails! Seems like planned obselescence to me.

brand new vehicle - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By cballou - March 10 - 12:56 pmThis is a brand new vehicle. It could use a case for sunglasses like the tundra, moulding on the outside of the car to prevent dings from other cars opening their doors and I would have preferred the shifter on the column to allow for more leg room, aside from that, it holds my 300lb frame comfortably and gets great mileage.

Matrix is a true quality Toyota - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By Dave Swaney - January 31 - 2:26 amI have 45K on my Matrix, and I have done nothing but change the oil and repair curb collision damage. Nothing rattles, nothing wheezes. Im going to have to take it in at 50K just out of discipline. What a car.

Great versatile car - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By Matt_B - May 31 - 2:33 pmThis car rides great and is comfortable around town. It has plenty of room (headroom is great without the sunroof) and I am 64" 230lbs. The fuel economy is excellent. We just bought the car so I cant comment on durability etc. Maybe I will in another 5 years. If you are looking for a fuel efficient vehicle that is very practical and roomy look no further.

Good Mule on Wheels - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By RichT - May 25 - 6:40 pmI have enjoyed driving and owning this Matrix as my driving needs are constantly evolving. It handles the highway and the city with a flexible response, plus it averages nothing less than 30mpg in mixed driving conditions. It has good room for 4 large adults and with the seats folded down, it can haul 30 cases of beer. Having driven it in the snow and bad weather, it never fails or complains.

Nice little car - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By 1st Toyotabuyer - April 14 - 5:00 pmWith just a little over 1,000 miles on the odometer am getting about 27 mpg average. This is a nice quiet little car and seats five easily. Runs smooth and handles well. I like the cruise and all the power options. It does ride quite low to the ground, which is nice on clear dry roadways, but not for winter driving conditions. The AWD is fantastic. We can rely upon it to keep everything moving in slick conditions. I am hoping that the mpg will increase a little over time. But very satisfied so far.

Get One Before Theyre Gone - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By Paradoxfalls - December 31 - 12:36 amI love the 2006 Toyota Matrix. Its a well-built, peppy, fuel economic car thats fun to drive. The only problem we have with it is that the small rear windows (hatch and behind the doors) create bigger blind spots, but once you get to know the car, its not so bad. My husband and I bought this car after our 2005 Matrix was totaled. A speeding drunk driver jumped a sloped median, landing his Jeep Cherokee V8 on the hood of our Matrix, then flipped over and crushed part of our roof. My husband and I were injured, but WE WALKED AWAY, vowing to buy another Matrix since that one saved our lives. I heard that the Matrix may be replaced in Toyotas line-up, so get one while you can!

Bargain matrix - 2006 Toyota Matrix
By jack - January 28 - 10:00 amDesign of metal sometimes looks like something hit it. Only difficulty is pulling coins out of secondary coin holder because its directly under hand brake. otherwise comfort and roominess, driving characteristics are a bargain for the money. Too bad didnt come with standard tape cassette player.
