Overview & Reviews
Toyota's midsize SUV is fully redesigned for 2008. Significantly larger than the original, the 2008 Highlander features a standard V6 engine and a habitable third-row seat.
- Powerful and fuel-efficient V6, easy to maneuver for its size, user-friendly cabin design with reconfigurable second-row seats and a fully usable third row.
- Third-row seat folds as a single unit rather than in 50/50 sections.

Tough to get excited - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Something is missing - May 16 - 8:23 amWhen going up small hills the transmission will not shift up and jerks when it does shift. When the engine is under some pressure it sounds very strained. Acceleration is margional. I came from a Murano. The Murano had more power and was more fun to drive. The navigation is pretty good. Not unhappy with the purchase but can not get excited about getting in the truck everyday.

Do not get the base. Spend the $$ - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By deewill - March 22 - 7:33 pmSo far this is a great vehicle. Great power and gets 24.4 on the highway. The base has the standard features but when you are used to a loaded Toyota you do not realize how many options you are missing until you leave the dealership. No power lift gate. Takes two men and a small boy to pull it down. No outside temp gauge. Manual cloth base seats are not all that comfortable on trips. No blue tooth, no hitch, though you pay standard for the prep. I guess they drilled some holes in the frame for you. You cannot buy a hitch yet. No body side molding. I see numerous door dings in the future. Multiple blind spots. Need to add the convex mirrors in the corners.

Very happy - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By pointpetre - February 24 - 9:03 pmI have had this FWD Highlander for less than a month. I have about 2300 miles. Traveled a lot over Christmas and several trips from Fairfax, Virginia to Duck, NC and Virginia Beach. Surprised that the in town gas mileage is better than the EPA rating. Even on the first tank in town when the HL had less than 50 miles on it, the mileage under bad circumstances was over 19. Commuting to metro and in heavy traffic, Ive done about 22 average on a tank of gas in town On the highway, I have been for times as high as 27.6 MPG, but my best tank average was about 26 with 25 being more common so far. Still, that is better than the EPA rating, and Im traveling with I-95 and I-64 traffic at 75+
