Overview & Reviews
Toyota's midsize SUV is fully redesigned for 2008. Significantly larger than the original, the 2008 Highlander features a standard V6 engine and a habitable third-row seat.
- Powerful and fuel-efficient V6, easy to maneuver for its size, user-friendly cabin design with reconfigurable second-row seats and a fully usable third row.
- Third-row seat folds as a single unit rather than in 50/50 sections.

2008 Sport AWD - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Max - May 15 - 12:00 amI have been looking for cars and reading their specs for 8 months. I decided to wait for the 2008 Highlander and the Nissan Rogue. Although I loved the Rogue my husband complained that his knees/legs hit the center console! I needed these things in a car: comfort, good economy for the vehicle size, takes regular unleaded gas, enough instant pickup to get on the freeway, decent warranty. The V-6 offers as much power as did my V-8 Mountaineer. I am averaging 21 mpg so far. The comfort is not the best but better than most short seated cars in this price range.

Owning Toyotas since 1991 - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Frank - March 29 - 7:56 pmAs always Toyota has come through. Exceptional build quality inside and out. Much improved over the well received Highlands of years gone by. I bought the Limited AWD with all the bells and whistles and couldnt be happier. If youre in the market for a good looking vehicle inside and out with exception reliability then you should look no further than this vehicle.

Very nice SUV - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Highlander Bob - March 21 - 10:36 amRecently purchased the Highlander. It is a great SUV. Very roomy, high quality interior. Im over 6 foot and have plenty of room in 1st and 2nd rows. Suspension and steering could be slightly more firm, however neither is anywhere near as bad as some say. Doesnt handle compared to CX-9, but if you want a great overall package make sure you test drive the Highlander.

Highlander just gets better - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By RDL - March 4 - 11:13 pmAfter having my 08 Highlander Limited, I must say it is one of the best I have ever had! After having many Toyotas, I wanted to try an SUV, and Im so glad! The Highlander has all the luxury I was looking for, and a price at the top of my list. The ride is very smooth and quiet, and the V6 is so smooth and quiet, especially in warm climate. In the winter, it is a little loud until warm up, but that is normal as my Avalon was the same. The Highlander has plenty of room, nice dash, and the premium radio is a must! The bluetooth is great for the cell, and is safe while driving. The navigation is easy, and works well. The Blizzard Pearl is a great exterior color. Great SUV. Awesome !

Excellent choice - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By toycannon - February 11 - 1:03 pmGave back 05 pilot for the 08 highlander. Huge improvement in looks, ride comfort, shifter location, a/c, stereo, moonroof. Miss homelink and split 3rd row. Display gives you current mpg and different useful data as well as back up camera. Very quiet, steering feel is light.

Awesome SUV - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Ronn - January 5 - 6:33 pmHey Highlander lovers, after trading an Avalon 05 for a Rav4 08 in October, I realized that after 3 months, I wasnt as happy as I missed the features I had on the Avalon and traded for the Highlander. The Highlander Limited AWD 08 is a perfect SUV for me, and I love it ! The interior space is large enough for me as I am 62. The leather seats are very comfortable, and I love the instrumentation on the dash. I enjoy the lighted cup holder feature for night driving. It has a very smooth, quiet ride, and the Blizzard Pearl color looks fantastic on the SUV. The navigation is much easier than the Avalon, as it has a touch pad. Before you buy your next SUV, drive a Highlander. You will love it!

Super Vehicle - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By B Whitcomb - January 4 - 9:43 amPerformed extensive research to find economical vehicle with a 5000 lb towing capability. No competition. Best economy with 5000 lb towing. Excellent economy achieved 24.8 MPG on first 1000 miles round trip to NC mountains, 5000 ft elevation. Exceeded EPA mileage estimates on first tank. Quiet at 60+ stereo super, love auto rear opener. Sport suspension stiffer than base and Limited. I prefer stiffer. Able to select transmission gearing, a plus for towing. Second seats can be moved forward and aft as well as folded flat. Rear auto door is a real plus for convenience.

Great Value - except Tires - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By B Whitcomb - December 4 - 10:00 amPurchased new in 2008, now have 50,000 without any mechanical problems. Could not have better reliability. Performance is outstanding even towing a boat (16 MPG) I have never gotten less than 19 MPG in town and up to 26 MPG on the highway at speeds of 70+ MPH. Original tires very poor replaced at 33,000 with Briggestone, so far so good. OEM tires were worthless day "1" with hydroplaning the rule not the exception. The interior is comfortable and well laid out. My only problem with the vehicle is my own doing. I tow a 4000 LB boat. It tows with great stability at 16 MPG. The problem is getting up the wet boat ramp with FWD. If you tow opt for the AWD

Why Buy A Mercedes or a BMW - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By No More Mercedes - November 18 - 11:00 pmMy last car was a Mercedes R350 I bought this Highlander as a last resort...and I could not be happier. I got this truck in June of 08 when nobody was making any kind of deals, and finding a reasonable lease was impossible from any manufacturer. Im amazed by this truck. It has plenty of power, a ton of room in the back for gear. The third row seat is a little small, but its great for my small kid (Girl 6yrs, Boy 2yrs). Fuel economy is around 23mpg combined city and Highway which is a huge improvement over the R350 which was around 18. This is an all around great vehicle which is a big compliment from a guy who never wanted an SUV.
