Overview & Reviews
There are no significant changes to the 2006 Toyota Corolla, although new SAE testing procedures have resulted in lower horsepower ratings.
- High-quality and roomy interior, outstanding gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, illustrious reliability record.
- Awkward driver-seat position, bland on-road personality, gets pricey even when equipped with just the basics.

Great family sedan - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Jose Barros - September 16 - 9:23 amWe just had a baby and got this car because of its reliability and fuel efficiency, but we love its looks and comfort. The trunk is huge, and fits quite well all baby stuff, including our large stroller. Weve had long road trips with four people in our car, and it was surprisingly comfortable. Overall, were quite pleased with it.

V8 vs. 4 CYL - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Joseph Smeltzer - August 10 - 10:00 amI recently traded in a 2004 Trailblazer with a V8. It was fun to drive and this small car will take getting use to. But the gas mileage is outstanding, especially when comparing to a big SUV. Although I dont have all the luxury features of an expensive vehicle, this car is real nice for me. The standard features and value make this a great car to save gas and have fun driving. It also handles way better than any SUV. It works for me. Ill just buy a cheap used pick-up truck for all my heavier needs but drive the new car to work. I compared all economy cars in this class, and nothing comes close to gas mileage, price, reliability, standard features, and looks.

A fun little car - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By peterm - April 5 - 3:43 amWe love just about everything about the 06. Its sporty looking, comfortable, and quiet. It has more pickup than I expected. I agree with others that a telescoping steering wheel should be available and ABS should be standard. We bought ABS & the side airbags. The rear seat has enough legroom (not roomy but not cramped). The upgraded sound package (VV) wasnt very impressive. We easily added fog lights to the LE (which is already wired for them) and wish it was an option.

Small issues - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By king - March 16 - 2:36 pmPrior to purchasing a 2006 Corolla, I had a 1991 model for 15 years. I loved it so I wanted another. I have only had the 2006 for a few months, but I wanted to give a review after my first trip to the service department at 6,000+ miles. The trim on the roof was coming loose at one end. The initial prognosis by the service department technician was to replace as this occurs occasionally. They instead glue it down (something I could have done). The second issue, which is more unacceptable, is a spot protruding under the carpet on the hump in the back seat area. I noticed the carpet wearing (at 6,000+ miles) and they said the protrusion is part of the carpeting and all corollas have it.

"S" - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Robert - March 14 - 12:50 amAs of yet... this car has been all it should be... a Toyota. Its build is solid; mileage is great, and fun to drive as a daily commuter. The interior styling is a bit plain/simple, but at the same time a welcome sight to the complexity of some of todays rides. For what it is, a daily commuter/first car/mileage queen, the Corolla fits the bill.

Feels like Heaven! - 2006 Toyota Corolla

Outstanding value and fuel economy - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Ed - February 20 - 5:43 amThe Toyota Corolla was a fine purchase. The engine is rather peppy when you need it and the LE trim offers some nice features and gadgets. A roomy trunk and back seat was a nice suprise and my car seats four adults comfortably.

Oligohome - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Oligohome - February 9 - 8:33 amthis is my 3rd 5-speed Corolla. I wanted a car that was as close to my previous 2000 Corolla as possible. I find the suspension is very ridgid. I feel every bump on the road. Drives well in the snow. I appreciate the added ground clearance. Turns great. Average fuel at 32 (local)-35 (HWY) MPG, not the number advertised (although my previous Corolla was right on the money to the predicted numbers, so it aint my driving).
