This Year's Model Updates:

In an effort to make Camry ownership more affordable, Toyota adds an entry-level Standard model to the lineup this year. All 2005 Toyota Camry models receive freshened exterior styling with a new grille, headlamps, taillamps and wheel designs. All Camrys now have antilock brakes as standard equipment, and the optional automatic transmission for all models is now a five-speed unit. Inside, all Camrys feature Optitron gauges, steering wheel audio controls, a rear center headrest and upgraded seat fabrics. The XLE V6 now includes standard leather seating.

Pros:
  • Roomy, comfortable, quiet, plenty of safety and luxury features, high resale value, strong reputation for reliability.

  • Most decent car bough longest car kept - 2005 Toyota Camry

Bough new in 2006 and now 55K miles. Also bough 2006 Civic in same year. The camry is a champ in performance for 4-cyl car itCaccelerates aceptionally I have confidence passing cars on a 2-lane road. Miles-per-gallon is second to none in term of distance over weight is related, even the Civic is very good, especially in resale so I sold it and bough an Acura MDX yesterday. Anyway, Camry is a very rightous car to own! I like its appearance too. oh no thanks, not with the spoiler!

  • Great.. as advertied - 2005 Toyota Camry

Great car. May not be the most fun to drive, but doesnt pretend to be (unlike, say, the Accord). Leather seats are extremelt comfortable, and I especially like the high seating position. Toyota (and VW) are the only companies making stability control available to the masses. When front left tire blew out the car maintaind a straight line until I could pull over.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned - 2005 Toyota Camry

Just turned 110K now. Ive changed oil every 5K, air filter every 15k, and changed transmission fluid at 105K and the old fluid still looked fine. Ive gone thru 2 sets of tires. I see no reason why this girl wont be around for at least 300K.

  • Not perfect, but pretty good - 2005 Toyota Camry

This is company vehicle, have had it for 2 years, 50,000 miles. Car is peppy for a 4 cylinder, much better than the Mazda6 I had before. Overall, car is very refined, smooth, quiet, very reliable. A couple beefs; some squeaks have appeared in this car and I have some rust appearing on the B pillar. Also, Toyota paint is very soft, chips and scratches easily - had same paint issue on 2001 Camry. Despite minor issues, would definitely get another one.

  • Just O.K. - 2005 Toyota Camry

Bought this car pre-owned. Some friends owned one. Would caution pre-owned purchasing. Thought Toyota had a better car. This car is slow when first pushing on the gas, and shifts slow. Thought it would get better gas mileage than it does. The good news, its fast when it finally gets going. Also, expected a quieter vehicle, but I have found that it makes little noises as if it wasnt pieced together tightly and some things are now loose.

  • my Camry - 2005 Toyota Camry

Even with a bad back (surgery), I find the Camry very comfortable. I recently drove 2500 miles from PHX to VA. I ran into the storms of hurricane Ivan. The Camry handled exceptionally well on wet roads. The only thing I find a problem is how the defrosters handle moisture. I am temporarily located in a very damp climate. No combination of defrost, air conditioning (which is supposed to take moisture out) or temperature controls seems to solve the problem entirely. The front windshield continues to "steam up" in spots. Especially in the lower middle. Overall it is a great car. Controls are well laid out for easy access by the driver with minimal reaching or taking eyes off the road.

  • Power when needed not there - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

In general I like the car very much, this being the first Toyota and first foreign car Ive owned. However, in situations where power is needed (e.g., pulling out of the right hand lane on a highway, hitting the accelerator to move into the left lane because cars are moving up in this lane, power is lacking. There is a big lag between when the accelerator is pressed and the car actually does accelerate. Toyota has advised it takes some getting used to (i.e., as compared to my previous cars which were Pontiacs).

  • Great car but not very reliable - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

I owned the Camry for almost 2 years now. This car rides very smooth and comfort, good gas mileage. Steering feels very unstable on windy day, highway only. My only concern is power steer broke at 30K miles, whole rack and pinion system replaced. I am very suprised, this seems to be very early for Toyota car. Manufacture covered the cost, around $900. Other than this problem, I think Camry is a good car for family.

  • V6 Camry has problems, though nice car - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

I bought car in Feb 2005. After about 600 miles noticed car would hesitate from stop, 1st to 2nd gear. Also, downshifts rather hard around 45 and 60 mph. The camry is a nice car though. And not all camrys will act this way. Toyota says that things are working within spec. Discouraging.

  • My first Toyota - 2005 Toyota Camry

I bought my 2005 LE Camry about 3 months ago and so far no problems. This is a roomy and comfortable car. Its also pretty smooth compared to my other car. Ive only noticed some slight hesitation when I try to accelerate quickly. This is a reliable, practical, comfortable and roomy car.
