Trim levels are revised on the 2007 Subaru Outback wagon. Subaru has added an entry-level 2.5i Basic wagon, and midway through '07, there will be a couple new L.L. Bean models that bundle a navigation system with the base 2.5-liter engine. Further, all Outbacks get MP3/WMA-capable CD stereos and an MP3 player input jack; Limited and L.L. Bean models have SRS WOW technology, which is said to improve the sound quality of compressed-format music. XM Satellite Radio is a new option. Other standard-equipment additions include a tire-pressure monitor (except on the Basic wagon); a new flywheel design to smooth out shifts on manual-transmission models; and on XT Limited models only, the driver-controlled SI-Drive engine program. Horsepower ratings for the turbocharged 2.5-liter and H6 engines have decreased slightly due to new SAE certification standards.

Sports Car? - 2007 Subaru Outback
By BD - December 24 - 3:30 pmWe traded in an 01 Outback wagon for a sedan for my wife. Kids in college, time for a fun car. This thing handles! The "small" engine is 175HP and it has some legs. During the test drive I took a 90 degree turn on a back narrow road at 30 mph. ABS kicked in for second then hit the gas and she never missed a beat. The car is fun to drive (not that my wife has let me get my hands on it since the test drive). Sharp looking too. Inside nice with leather, moon roof, 6 CD player, and many other features. I think the taupe leather is going to be tough to keep clean but other then that, we are happy. This is the last year for the sedan, grab one while you can.

Reliable Pseudo-Luxury Vehicle - 2007 Subaru Outback
By Mainer - December 9 - 8:50 pmFor the price, I hoped for more up to date features. The GPS is outdated, with less up to date info than my Garmin purchased a year prior. Car accelerates with hesitation at first, and then kicks in. Rear brake light was dislodged when first purchased, and needed to be put back in place. Stereo features are well integrated with iPod adapter, but no Bluetooth on this vehicle.

Seriously reconsidering buying another Subaru - 2007 Subaru Outback
By bigoske - December 8 - 12:09 pmA little history, may family has owned Subarus since the 1980s and absolutely love them. Bought this 07 Outback in 2010 with 100K miles. Ran like a top for a year with just the basic maintenance, oil changes, etc. Timing belt needed to be replaced, which was expected. Then weve had problems ever since. Had to replace the Head gaskets, leaking on the coolant side, which blew a hole in radiator, fixed that. Then the car wouldnt start intermittently, turned out to be a bad O-ring on the fuel pump. Had to replace all struts as tires wore at an angle. changed O2 sensors, catalytic converter still needs to be replaced, CEL still on. Extremely Disappointed with Subarus reliabilty on this vehicle.

1st Subaru - 2007 Subaru Outback
By Craig - October 9 - 8:50 pmI traded an Audi A6 Quattro for my outback. The Outback costs 1/3 less than the Audi to replace. The Outback is virtually the same vehicle. I lost heated rear seats and the ride is more stiff. The first day I owned the car I drove in a 8" snow storm and the car handled every bit as well as the Quattro. I have owned 3 Audis and I am a convert. This is a tremendous car for the money.

My First Subi - 2007 Subaru Outback
By Steve - September 12 - 9:30 pmThis is my first time buying a non-GM car. Have only driven 300 miles. No problems yet. Love the way this car handles. Great acceleration and smooth ride. Was perfect to drive during a recent snowfall. Looking forward to taking this car on next backwoods camping trip. So far no regrets I didnt buy GM.

Mr. Dependable - 2007 Subaru Outback
By David Schmidt - June 15 - 9:40 amTraded in a 2001 LL Bean Outback. Was very impressed with the overall design, roominess, and comfort level. Also looked at Honda CRVs. There is no comparison value wise. The Subaru comes with many features that the Honda lacks, ie: power drivers seat. My concern about power in the mountains was a non-issue when using the sport shifter. Gas mileage is 27-28 on regular gas.

New Car Purchase - 2007 Subaru Outback
By Phil - May 28 - 3:03 pmThis is the true SUV, especially the "Utility" aspect, since it conforms to nearly all my needs. Also, theres great value here in all its added creature comforts and the great reputation for safety. In city driving, its peppy and its short turning radius is great for parking. On interstate drives it is wonderfully comfortable for me and an 85 lb collie. On the sport side, it can transport up to three sea-kayaks comfortably and cross-country skis can fit inside (over the front seat median). I do give up some things like having to slowing down on the curves, overall gas mileage (21) can be better and telescoping steer wheel and memory seats would be nice, but, overall, its a winner.

Big Bang for my Buck - 2007 Subaru Outback
By Craig - May 21 - 6:33 pmI really dont know what is basic about my BASIC WAGON because its got all I need and more. This 2007 is a great deal. So far, with routine driving I am getting a solid 24 MPG! I am 5-9" with plenty of room for me and my family of 4. Easy hook-ups for my 2 year olds carseat, and my 15 year old daughter loves it, even though it a wagon. I am so happy with this buy. Safe, fun, loaded by my standards. I have the auto and love that sport shift for the curves. Good stereo for a basic feature too. Its early in the game, but I really think this car is a GREAT deal for the money. With rebate I paid $21,787. The steel 16" wheels are fine by me. Car feels and runs solid like my Toyota always did!

Love my Outback - 2007 Subaru Outback

I had my Subaru Forester for nine years and it never left me stranded. It also held its value and I sold it for over Kelly Blue Book even with 209,000 miles. I plan to keep my Outback for at least 9 to 10 years. I love owning a Subaru, it is perfect for the outdoor lifestyle we enjoy.
