Overview & Reviews
The entry-level Ion 1 trim level has been dropped for 2006. Wheel designs have been revised, OnStar is now standard across the board, and air conditioning has moved to the options list for the Ion 2. Upgraded performance is available via an optional Enhanced Performance package, which includes antilock brakes, a sport-tuned suspension and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 170 horsepower.
- Limited rear legroom, center-mounted instrumentation takes some getting used to, below-average interior materials.

Very Nice Compact Car - 2006 Saturn ION
By gilbcp - January 25 - 7:33 pmI bought Storm Grey ION-2 with a 5spd manual transmission, power door locks, remote keyless entry, and power windows. I found the ION to have a nice comfortable ride, responsive steering, and pretty decent acceleration. I like the placement of the gauges in the center of the dash (took me only about a day to get used to), the free 1-year of OnStar, the 3- month free subscription to XM- Satellite radio. I think that the styling of the car is great and looks much better than the Civic and is just as attractive as the Corolla. I know that the projected reliability isnt as good as Civic and Corolla, but it also costs about 3k less than either of those cars do. It also has comfortable seats.

Saturn QC 2 with 2.4L engine - 2006 Saturn ION
By Taxman - December 20 - 11:53 pmI traded a 2005 ION 2 sedan manual for this car - a Quad Coupe 3 manual with 2.4 engine. The revised engine, same as Cobalt, plus leather interior plus XM radio/CD/sunroof makes this Saturn a fun car. Revisons to struts and sway bars make for a nice firm and controlled ride - compared to ION 2. Leather is better than I expected - about as good as my old 2001.5 Passat GLX. Fit and finish quite good. No problems as delivered. Very good low end torque when compared with 2.2L engine. And the "deal" was very good - well below sticker plus $1,250 in rebates. Get one if you can find one

Honest Review - 2006 Saturn ION
By Mark C - May 28 - 1:43 amI just hit 70,000 miles. So far Ive had the ignition problem which is VERY common to the Saturn Ion where you cant get the key out of the ignition. Should have been a recall item. Also all of my fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Another problem I had was with the control module, another common problem with these cars. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty through an online warranty company. So I was not out of pocket too much. Other than this not too bad. Had my brakes checked today and there is plenty of pad left after 70k, I was surprised.

Great until something goes wrong - 2006 Saturn ION
By Diane - March 8 - 1:50 pmI have only had my ION for 3 months. Needless to say when I was on the highway a deer decided that it liked my car better than me. So he took out the front end of it. looking at $6000.00 in damages. But my problem is that when it hit me my seat belts completly locked up and refuse to come loose at all. If it was anywhere near my neck it would have killed me. Now after most of the repairs have been done the body shop has had to order now 3 times seat belts and all of them have been defective. Needless to say all the other parts had to been ordered twice because they had cracks. This is not giving me a good opinion on Saturn at all.
