Overview & Reviews
For 2006, Pontiac unveils the Torrent, a crossover SUV based on the Chevrolet Equinox platform.
- Long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, high crash test scores, available side curtain airbags.
- Limited choice in drivetrains, confusing stereo control layout, slow steering response.

No complaints - 2006 Pontiac Torrent
By Christine - April 9 - 1:40 amSo far I think the car is great. A few minor modifications to interior set up could be made but otherwise all around its a fine car.

Plugged Heater Core - 2006 Pontiac Torrent
By Robin - February 11 - 6:30 pmIve loved my Torrent. It drives great and looks great. But, Ive had it almost exactly 2 years and the heater stopped working. Per the dealership, Ive got a plugged heater core wich is $400-500 to fix. They also have another Torrent in the shop right now with the same problem. This seems a bit odd to me that 2006 Torrents would start having this problem. Wished it had a 5 year/100,000 warranty. I dont think the 3 year/36,000 covers long enough.

New Buyer - 2006 Pontiac Torrent
By B. Puthoff - January 28 - 1:40 amI just purchased my Torrent 5 days ago. I have had prior Pontiac vehicles, and so far, so good. I do notice more wind noise with the sunroof. I dont know if its the pop-up wind deflector or the roof rails that I hear the wind noise from. I also agree that the steering feels "loose" and slow to respond. But Im also used to a Grand Prix GT ! Well, heres hoping that GM is in the market with the oversees competitors.
