Worst car I ever owned - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By ManofSteel - February 23 - 10:00 amWe bought our Grand Am new in 99. Had troubles with it from the very begining. Brakes seemed to wear out almost endlessly. Had to replace a caliper just after warrany was up. Wheel bearings needed replaced in the second year wich is just ridiculus. Power widows on each side needed to be replaced twice. Also had to have the car stero CD replaced twice due to malfunction. the ride was very sloppy and bumpy. Engine noise was noticable. Just not a very good car.

Never again! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By smithkjw - January 6 - 12:31 pmEverything about this car is more difficult than it has to be! This car was a gift from family when our previous car died, but we have spent three times its value fixing it... And every repair leads to way more frustration because of its design. Replacing headlights is a quick and easy repair on every car Ive driven until this one. On this car I had to have help to remove the entire headlight assembly which was no easy task. Replacing radiator hoses reqiures removal of several unrelated things. Fuel line tends to rust at the fuel filter, requiring replacement of the fuel line which is built into the fuel tank! AC vents spin and keep air from coming out.

I love It so far! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By ohsoright_21 - December 10 - 2:00 amI bought My 1999 Grand Am not too long ago and I love it so far. It runs very well on the highway. I needed something reliable when my 88 Chrysler New Junker (new yorker) broke down on the highway. I put over 60 miles a day on a car so i needed something reliable and I like what im seeing so far. I love the fact that I can pass someone effortlessly. Great Car!

I have a question. - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By spike1 - December 5 - 2:00 amI have only had this car about a month. I love it a lot. The low traction light comes on even when it is dry out. It is only brief, it doesnt stay on the whole time, but it comes on when it has no reason to. It still works when it is supposed to. I just need to find out if I should have this checked or if it is normal. Can anyone help me?

Good Sporty Car - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Jacob - October 29 - 8:30 amI bought this car with 49000 miles on it. The alternator went out at 65,000 miles, Both window regulators needed to be replaced at around 75,000 miles. Do not open the windows if your car is iced over they will break. New front brakes at 77000 miles. Trac light comes on occasionaly. everything else is OK. Love the engine 3.4L , plenty of power, 27-32 mpg. Half the price of any similar Japanese car. Buy this car one year old and you will save a ton of money.

Never Again - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By KenB - October 28 - 10:36 amThis car was trash almost from the start. Brakes always noisy. Replaced 4 alternators. Drivers window regulator replaced. Water pump replaced twice. Front wheel bearings replaced. Now the intake gasket is leaking. This car and my family will soon part company. I will never buy a Pontiac again. I will think very hard about buying ANY GM product.

grandam it! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By sad owner - October 2 - 12:30 pmThis car is the worst thing ever. Got the car w/105K mi on it back in June 2009. While its got some giddy-up and handles well, its kind of horrible not knowing if/when the brakes are going to fail. Ive had to put a new ABS motor ($2K) in it, and now, less than 6 months later, the whole braking system is shot. And Im not talking about shoes and rotors, which it eats like a kid eats candy. It also runs really hot, esp. in summer weather. The AC doesnt work, and the drivers window keeps falling. Also its an automatic, but cant get it to downshift in to 1st with the shifter, something it should be able to do willingly.

My baby blue! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By DFO - June 17 - 4:40 pmWe have enjoyed this car so much! We havent had any major repairs, only regular maintenance repairs. The car has get up and go!......Love the hum when accelerating! Feels like Im driving a more expensive sports car. Downside: noisy, interior is cramped, cup holder is behind gear shifter, and it wont go into park with a large size drink in it .... bummer!
