This Year's Model Updates:

The Pontiac G6 sees a host of changes for the 2006 model year. Starting things off are two new body styles: a two-door coupe and a hardtop convertible. The coupe will be available at the beginning of the model year, while the convertible hits dealer showrooms early in the 2006 calendar year. There are also new trim levels. A four-cylinder base sedan caters to those shoppers on a tighter budget, while a GTP trim increases the G6's performance threshold via the addition of a new 240-hp V6, stability control and an available six-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Huge rear seat, fuel-efficient V6 engines offer ample low-end pull, sporty suspension tuning, power hardtop in convertible model, panoramic sunroof in sedan.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, numb electric steering, panoramic sunroof eats up rear-seat headroom.

  • Bad panoramic roof - 2006 Pontiac G6

Aside from the panoramic roof, this is a good car for the money. Had it to the dealership for the third time to fix the wind noise from the sunroof. Said there was nothing they could do. As a result, I hate to say it, I will be buying another car because I cant stand the air noise. Wish I would have bought without the sunroof as I like the car otherwise.

  • Very disappointed, but relieved - 2006 Pontiac G6

I have just hit my two years of owning my 2006 G6 Sedan and I have already put $1000+ into the car. After reading the other reviews, Im so sad to hear that others are having the same troubles. Two months after owning the vehicle, I was told by the dealership during an oil change, that the front struts were leaking and that my steering shaft needed to be lubed due to a clunking sound. A year into owning the car, I have had my brakes, rotors, blinker bulbs and front struts replaced. I am about to have my right front wheel bearing replaced this week. Just a note of advice if you hear a tingy sound while driving with the windows down, it could possibly be a clamp loose on the muffler.

  • Bought for my wife But Now I want iT!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

She wanted a new Firebird, got the G6 GT instead, she couldnt be happier. Im 61" and have to adjust the sit to see out the front windshield (minor inconveinience). She and I both have got speeding tickets with her car already. She even raced it at VAMotorsports and did a 16.4 sec 1/4 mile.

  • The Pontiac G6 is hot! - 2006 Pontiac G6

This car is HOT! It looks good and drives SOOO smooth. You could hear a pin drop when on the highway. Im a 22 year old female, therefore, my only tizzy on this vehicle might me the price. We young people like to have our cars "decked out" so if you choose to have all options available like I did, it can get pretty spendy. Overall, I love my car! Besides....its a guaranteed eye catcher, what could be better?!

  • Overall good car - 2006 Pontiac G6

Overall Im satisfied with my G6, the price makes it hard to pass up. I think GM should have been smarter where they chose to spend their money in this car. For example, the power adjustable petals are nice, but I could easily do without. They should have invested in some higher quality interior controls. I would recommend getting at least the GT version to anyone.

  • Its a fun car - 2006 Pontiac G6

This is a great looking, fun to drive car. Everyone likes the way it looks, and its plenty fast. The sound system is good and I like the solid feel of the car. 4 wheel discs really make a difference when braking. Remote start was great on chilly mornings along with the heated leather seats. All in all a great package. Just took a trip and got over 30 mpg on the highway. A big overall improvement on my grand am.

  • What a car. HA!!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

Well Ive almost been in so many wrecks because my drivers side window switch is not working properly it will not roll up, when im driving on the interstate fighting with the window that can be very dangerous. My molding fell off within the first month I had the car. My starter hangs and dies, but when my husband took it to the dealership it started just fine im so sick of all the other stuff breaking on it but they did not give me enough room on here! The question, would I buy another Pontiac g6? hell no!

  • i love my G6 GT - 2006 Pontiac G6

I love how this car drives, rides and handles. Sporty looking "Mommy" car! (my first 4 door out of 6 cars owned). Very roomy inside and great trunk space. I get stares and questions about it. I just love it!!

  • Awesome Coupe! - 2006 Pontiac G6
    By -

After 5000 miles, this car is fantastic. I had a 2000 Grand Prix GTP coupe that I traded in for this (didnt like the new Grand Prix). And for it being smaller than the GP, it has a bigger back seat! Love the looks and design. If this is the direction Pontiac/GM is going, they should start gaining some market back in the US. Got many many looks and comments with the car. Only thing I had to do was buy snow tires and smaller rims for the winter. Upstate NY has the nickname "The great white north..." ;-)

  • Great Value for the $ - 2006 Pontiac G6

After the first 5K + miles, not a single hint of a problem. Good gas mileage and totally fun to drive. If you need more pick-up, youre either with the police department, or you have issues. Great value for the money
