  • My BLK 199 GLS - 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile GLS, I cant say the car is without flaws, but at 171,000k miles it has been a good car. A good friend has been through two Camrys in the time Ive had my Intrigue. It has held up well and still gets 28 mpgs hwy and 22 city. The 3.5L engine is still strong, as long as I keep changing the oil I expect it to go 200k. I also love the front seats, they seem to be simply perfect, I have never been uncomfortable in them. Its still a sharp car after all these years, I dont regret buying it.

  • Olds is gone - This car is a good reason - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Weve had it now for 5 years and 30k miles. I want to love this car, I really do, but everytime I start to something else breaks!! Here is a sampling of problems Sensor in Transmission;Fuel injector;Intake Manifold; Rear Window motor (Twice);CD player; Warped Brake Rotors (x3 times); Blower motor fan; Water pump; Several broken controls and buttons. Total non- warranty repairs have totaled close to $2k. I do like the styling and ergonomics. It could be a little quiter on the highway but its not bad. The 3800 V-6 makes it fun to drive.

  • Rattles - 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

After owning the car for several months, I have noticed a hint of cheapness in the interior. First the clear plastic cover over the speedometer etc started to rattle on rough surfaces. Glove box has also started to rattle now. Also had to replace alternator after 2000 because of lights dimming. Nice car, but not especially impressed with initial build quality. However, the engine is top notch.

This is my first new car purchase after owning several used GM cars. It has poor rotors, tires and an intermediate drive shaft that clunks. However, once those problems were addressed, everything else seems fine. It gets great mileage and is very reliable. My dealership has given me great service even though it is out of warranty. GMs service line is very courteous and back up their product.

  • Great Car - 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I bought my car in May of 2001 with 13,000 km on it. It now has 190,316 km on it. I have found my car reliable and a joy to drive on many long trips. It has been basically trouble free for me with just the usual maintenance things necessary. I have had the usual problem that comes with the aluminum wheels of leaking with the tires but I buy my tires where they give free maintenance so it has cost nothing for cleaning the rims. For now problem solved. 2 problems with this car, at 3 degrees Celsius outside the car fogs up, only solution open windows. Seats lack enough lumbar support for long trips making it feel like my ribs are cutting into me.

  • Reality about the best sports-sedan - 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

This is a really great car. Reliable, fun to drive, powerful, super economical, very roomy, supportive seats, great cornering, and superior braking, make it a perfect sporty alternative to bring sedans. Compared to Accord, Camry, Passat, and Maxima, when I was shopping. Intrigue felt like it was built better, with more quality feel to it. Plus the motor is Northstar inspired, and borrowed from the Aurora. The acceleration and passing ability are far better than the numbers most magazine put out. Ive clocked mine from 0-60 with a professional stopwatch. The timing was averaged at 6.49 over 5 trials. Fuel economy is averaging in the 30s. Maintenance has been basic oil changes and filters only

  • Great Choice - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Bought the car new in 99 - mechanics leftover type deal so it had 3400 miles, big deal! I love this car. Has been great! I drive one of the twistiest highways in NY to and from work and never had a problem. Smooth power on the hills, holds the road great. Cup holder holds anything. Live on top of a Mtn and never even put snows on this baby!

  • My Oldsmobile Intrigue Experience - 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

This car could well be the unsung hero of the Oldsmobile division. I received this car when my grandmother passed away, and so far, it is the best car I have driven. The car has the 3800 Series 2 (L36) engine, with the 4T65E transmission. The engine can be quiet, or aggressive sounding when wanted, the transmission can shift smoother than my dads Lexus. I was hit at 25 mph by a truck, and the only thing damaged, was a cracked taillight and an inch scratch on the bumper. This car is the safest, most reliable car I have ever driven. Perfect for a teenager. It is a beautiful car. If I had the money, I would buy another one. Just follow the maintenance schedule, and this car will last 200K+ miles

  • Not your Granpas Olds!!! - 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Im only the second-owner of this great medium-size family sedan. It was clean- quick and quiet then, and still is. We consistently got 33mpg on the road to KY. Its easy to park and drive...has fewer blind spots than the Lexus were buying. Great sound system...and lots of trunk space.

  • Mostly great, with a couple issues - 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

I love this car, Ive had it for 8 years and have only had minimum repairs required. One problem is that they seemed to make the power window assemblies poorly. The metal chord attached to a pulley and motor snaps in cold weather. Ive replaced 5 in my car. another problem is the vinyl where the passenger airbag is seems to be coming apart. Other than that its a great car. Comfortable, pretty decent gas milage for a 6 cyl, handles very well. If they still made these Id buy a brand new one.
