Overview & Reviews
For 2006, a new entry-level X model debuts, and the Power package is now standard on the S trim. All models get a lighted locking glovebox.
- One of the most powerful V6s in the class, above average off-road capability, solid passenger room, innovative cargo features.
- Still not what we would call refined on the street, lots of hard plastic in the cabin.

Great car for my boys and dogs! - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By bluedog - August 16 - 8:53 amI have always had an SUV but had to get a sedan when I had children. The car life was killing me. I have two active boys (camping, hiking, soccer, football, fishing) and two dogs that were tearing my car up. So far we have gone camping in this and to one long distance tournament. It has been a great vehicle so far. Nobody in my family has had one complaint yet. Love the extra compartment on rack for dirty cleats and stinky fish. The back cargo area cleans up great too. There is plenty of leg room in back for adults and growing children. I got the bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty to cover the vehicle through note and then some. Co-workers is 250,000 miles with no problems.

Upgrade from the 2001 Xterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By medictom - August 12 - 5:43 pmAble to get the new 2006 Nissan Xterra this past week, got the Red Brawan color and could not be happier. I love the new X, love the new Horse Power, love the Xterra period. It is one of the most unique looking vehicles on the road, and also can compete with almost anything out there. Thanks to Nissan for making me want to buy another one....it is truly worth it.

Just Awesome!! - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By pofromchgo - August 7 - 12:40 pmI think Nissan couldnt have redone this any better from the bigger engine, to the plastic bumper to the step in the rear this suv has it all!! It rides very well and with the SE package you can tear up the roads without ever worring about having problems!

Goodbye nissan - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By heath - May 8 - 10:00 amI have loved nissans for awhile. I have had 7 of them. But they do not back them up and they have horrible customer service now, time to say good bye! Good bye squeaky hood they never fixed, battery drain, oil sensor, fuel sensor, noisy a/c, squeaky seats, its been fun but it is time to fin a manufacturer that will take care of us when we spend 28k for a truck!

Love it! - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By Chelle - May 7 - 10:00 amI love my X! Ive always driven SUVs and love them. My last SUV was a Trailblazer, which was ok but it was an automatic. I love the 6 speed X. It drives like a truck (Im told its a full frame not a sub frame which im sure makes it drive a little more like a truck), but it hugs the curves. It drives real tight, its firm. I didnt like all the play in the steering that the trailblazer had. All I can say is test drive one and youll fall in love. I never thought Id drive anything other than General Motors, but purchasing the XTerra X was the best move ive made so far. Give it a try....see what you think.

2006 Nissan Xterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By nonissan2 - March 22 - 8:00 am33,000 miles, vehicle in distress Purchased - NEW The Nissan Xterra looks like a very nice SUV from the outside. But if you own one, you know that this vehicle has alot of problems that have not been fixed. Most common, are the front drive shaft U joints that go. NTBS has issued warnings as for front wheel bearings which include the front U joints. No recall issued by Nissan, not under any warranty Tension arm blew at 7000 miles, started blew at 22000 miles, now front u joints at 33,000 miles. Very nice vehicle if you like to restore cars Dont buy this vehicle years 2005 to 2009

Best Family Trail 4x4 - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By kmsr - February 22 - 6:58 pmIf you need 4 or 5 seatbelts and want to fit on 4X4 trails, Xterra is hard to beat. More comfortable (Im 64" and hit my head on Rubicon roll bar) and reliable than Jeep, more usable back seat and better visibility than FJ. A fraction of the cost of a Land Cruiser. Everything you need and nothing you dont. Seriously capable off road, especially with the right tires, lockers, and aftermarket mods. Great dimensions and clearance angles, especially when lifted.

Good Xterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By jmwsandan - February 18 - 9:20 pmOverall we are very happy with our 2006 Xterra. Our only complaints are minor. Fuel economy isnt great, but we knew it wouldnt be good going in. We are also less then thrilled with the back seat. Once youre in, its comfortable, but getting in and out is a hassle with the rear wheelhouse in the way.

myXtraXterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By heidi - February 16 - 3:10 pmExcellent ride. Handles like a dream and rides like a car, not a truck. I do believe they could have put more thought into comfortability, but you give up comfort for more extreme usage. It handles the mountain roads I live on with pristine grace and I feel confident it will handle the roads when snow becomes a factor.

Xterra - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By BL - August 25 - 11:53 amNissan has built an outstanding vehicle! Smooth ride, quiet, powerful, roomy, and easy to drive. My only complaint is the stock radio - its, well, cheap.
