This Year's Model Updates:

There are only minor changes to this Nissan truck for 2006. A power package with keyless entry, cruise control and power windows, locks and mirrors is available for the King Cab XE, and NISMO and LE models now have chrome accents on the gauge cluster and air vents. Additionally, manual transmission-equipped NISMO models have a new shift knob for 2006.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, roomy interior, innovative bed features, stout frame and advanced off-road systems provide excellent capability in the dirt.
Cons:
  • No regular-cab body style available, too much hard plastic inside, choppy ride on pavement.

  • nice but - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I only had this car for a couple of days but I can tell you its a nice medium truck but its not all it could be. For example the ride its horrible, very stiff to the point that i thougth it had something broken. It doesnt help that nissan uses the worst tires in the market, Generals. The gas mileage is between two or three miles below their estimate so prepare for it. theres no excuse that we are in the year 2006 and this car has these flaws

  • Nismo quality - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I drive my Nismo pick up every day and just returned from a 2200 mile road trip with my wife and a Pomeranian. No back pains or discomfort. The powerful V6 ran 70s and 80s in all the southern states with a load in the bed. No heating probelems in Atlanta traffic jams. I had always driven Dodge Dakotas but Im Nissan now!

  • I love my Nissan Truck... - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I love my truck... It is fun to drive and it sure does have power... The seats could be more comfortable though. I wanted leather and 4wd but could not afford the payment. Any way I look forward to driving my truck every day. It lools so cool too.

  • After 5500 miles... - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I drove this new truck from Seattle to Anchorage, AK and overall really liked the performance and ride even at 80 on gravel and rocks. The mileage was good on the hiway, but now in town its far less than its rating of 15MPG, if the on board MPG gauge is to be believed. Faults: Oil is a major pain to change especially due skid plate, dipstick is flimsy and hard to insert, visors are loose, rear headrests obstruct vision, cant open door from back. Wiper needs variable control- needs interval between 1 & 5 sec. Windshield seems to have coating, (anti glare?) that is now full of scratches and wont clean up. No aftermarket rims for snowtires available, Nissan steel wheels are $275 ea! OUCH

  • Great Truck Good Value - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I just bought a USED 2006 NISMO 4x4 38000 miles. On the drive home 21 MPG at about 70 MPH cruise control. Around town 15.6 MPG. I was concerned that the truck was going to be too stiff with the 4x4 and NISMO package. However it is very smooth to drive on pavement with low road noise and sturdy feel. Happy with my purchase everyone should look at this truck if you want a mid size. The Tacoma had a bad seating position for long trips and the domestic trucks just dont measure up. This is my first Nissan and so far so good.

  • Reserve judgement - 2006 Nissan Frontier

After a year driving the Frontier I am happy with the overall performance of the truck. It feels safe and handles beautifully on the highway, as well on the occasional use over rough terrain. The performance has been perfect, but spoiled by annoying squeaks and rattles, that seem to be hard to eliminate. I had the truck back to the dealer four times, and still the problem recurs. No matter how good the vehicle, there is a sour note to driving it.

  • Excellent truck at a great price - 2006 Nissan Frontier

I was torn between a Toyota Tacoma and the Frontier, and with the Frontier I got the same features for about $1000 less. Having owned a Frontier in the early 90s, Im happy to say the ride of the new Frontier is much smoother, very car-like, as opposed to the older truck whose ride was very stiff. Sit inside the XE and you will be surprised it is the lowest trim level. You ride high up like an SUV, and both interior and exterior are stylish. Only negative Id mention is that the 4-cylinder engine has a whiny sound. However, its got excellent acceleration, I was very surprised.

  • Rides sporty & hauls great - 2006 Nissan Frontier

LE with sunroof, automatic. Every option except limited slip, which with all the low end torque will squeal off the line too easily. My other car is a 350Z roadster. Bought with 50k and now at 85.000 miles. Using synthetic oil. Zero repairs and same tires. Will need brakes soon.Hit from behind while stopped by a Honda suv at 30 mph. Honda destroyed. Need a bumper and tailgate.

  • Its just OK - 2006 Nissan Frontier
    By -

Nice looks, powerful engine, roomy interior.6,000 miles and cant get comfortable behind the wheel. Gas mileage is dissapointing. Idles roughly when stopped at a light. Dealer cant find anything wrong, I say I shouldnt get a seat massage at every light!

  • Love everything but the interior - 2006 Nissan Frontier
    By -

The Frontier is a great truck and I am very pleased with it. The power is more than adequate and the interior room is good. The handling is great and the road noise is very low for a truck. The interior is just boring. The controls are all in fairly good locations but the styling is just blah. There is no nice trim pieces and the seats are not as supportive as they should be.
