This Year's Model Updates:

Nissan's compact pickup rolls into 2003 with many new enhancements. Most interesting is a power-operated retractable top. The "Open Sky" top -- essentially a giant sunroof -- is optional on Crew Cab models. For safety, Nissan has added standard dual-stage front airbags for Crew Cabs, standard LATCH child seat anchors on King Cabs and Crew cabs, an optional stability control system and an optional tire pressure monitoring system. Other changes for 2003 include 10 more horsepower for normally aspirated V6 models, a driver seat-height adjuster and standard Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). King Cabs now have standard ABS, a new storage bin and a new first aid kit (V6 only).

Pros:
  • Wide variety of body configurations and trim levels, many safety and convenience features.
Cons:
  • No third door on King Cabs, cramped rear seats for Crew Cabs.

  • Great Truck - 2003 Nissan Frontier

Starts up nice. Drives like a full size truck. Step on the gas and she goes nice for a v6. Shifts smooth and stops on a dime. Turning radius is great. Has a little bit of wind noise around door somewhere. I will figure it out sooner or later. Had to trade a manual transmission vehicle for this cause I could not use right shoulder to well and this truck has everthing easy to reach. Pulls a 2 place quad trailer very well. I forget its back there. That is how well it pulls and rides back there. Hope I dont have to get rid of this truck for any health reasons. This truck could last me forever. Bought it with 54 thousand miles, clean as a whistle. Got a full 60k service done at dealer. Top shape!

I really enjoy the Nissan Frontier so far. The style of the exterior is what sold me. I also like the extend a bed feature. The interior controls are not easy to see with the shift lever in the way. But so far, that is the only minor concern I would have with the vehicle.

I love my Nissan. Could have better turning ratio. Seats could be more comfortable and rear doors could be made easier to get out of. Other than that all else is excellent.

Much higher up than the comparable 2 wheel drive Toyota. Very solid and fun to drive. The stick shift shifts great. And less expensive that the Toyota. I think it is more truck for the money...Would purchase another and my other car is a 1998 Toyota T100!

Ive owned this truck for 2 years and Ive had NO problems. Traded my Tacoma in on this with no regrets. It has a better ride, more comfort and much better looks. Im now a Nissan guy.

  • Best Compact on the market - 2003 Nissan Frontier

I looked at all the compacts and even some full size trucks before buying my Frontier. Overall, the Frontier is the most practical for towing, hauling, and carrying passengers while still being able to fit in a parking space and not have to stop every 100 miles for gas. The long bed option is a must.

  • Needs to Improve comfort for Americans ! - 2003 Nissan Frontier

I just bought my Frontier about a week ago. Its a nice truck on the outside! I didnt realize that its not too big inside, when I was looking at it. I am 60 and have long legs, if my seat is back far, then no one can sit in the back of me. Also, the arm rest is very short! Theres not enough compartments in the interior for stuff, not even a coin holder~! I had to buy one at Pepboys. I have to buy accessories in Auto stores to improve the comfort in this vehicle. American vehicles are made for owners to feel comfortable. I guess I am spoiled from my old American 1996 Chevy Blazer LT that was loaded to the Max!

  • who needs a better truck ?! - 2003 Nissan Frontier

Bought it used -it had 40k,Ive driven it another 50 thou and not even the slightest issue. All right, the interior could look a little better (98 Pathfinder) but that aint a biggie. All Ive had to do is change the oil in it. Sprayed long box is great. Ive towed bobcats, trailers and motorboat with it - like a breeze. Bridgestone tires are perfect and Ive never regretted that its "only" a 4x2...just need to know how to drive it(with a litlle feel on ice&snow). 5spd Manual tranny is wonderful as well. I just simply love it all and keep it forever. My wife and 2 kids like it too, awesome value. still almost like new ...
