98 Mercury Mystique Sport - 1998 Mercury Mystique
By MystiqueSport98 - November 22 - 2:00 amI got my Mystique in Aug 2000. It had 14K miles. Since then it has been 100% reliable and a joy to drive. It currently has 60K miles & the only mechanical problem was when the O2 & fuel sensors had to be replaced Sept 03. I drove it through the worst road conditions I have seen in Jan 02. 12 hours to travel 400 miles, counted 38 accidents, but my car didnt slide once. Had a bad accident with my beloved car last Wed and it may be totaled, but it saved me and I was able to walk away.

A great car at a great price - 2000 Mercury Mystique
By Mystical Mercury - June 28 - 7:56 pmI have owned the Mercury Mystique since August 2000 and I could not be happier. This car has excellent pick- up. Two problems I have had with this car is replacing the alternator at 40,000 miles and replacing the fuel sensor (under $100.00). I have been extremely satisfied with my purchase.

By Fred - August 4 - 7:56 amIts been a real good car. A lot of bang for your buck. Very few repairs brakes, rotors,alternator, belt, wiper blades, oil & filter change. Just been a darn good car - crosses fingers.

By me - April 26 - 1:33 amWhen I bought this car it was 1 year old and had 30,000 miles on it. It is running as good as it did 10 years ago. I have had a few repairs on it - like the alternator and transmission. It has been very reliable for me, and I would buy one again if they were still made!

Happy 3 year Owner - 2000 Mercury Mystique
By Jim53 - July 27 - 2:00 amI bought my V6 5-speed Mystique LS in Dec 99 after ordering it to my specs. The dealer thought I should get an automatic trans for resale purposes. I bought it for me as a keeper, not to sell. I really like this car and totally agree with the reviewers comments of July 02. Great Handling, strong engine. Very smooth and powerful 4-disc brakes. This is a great used car deal - if you can find a 5 speed. Ive owned Honda Accords - great cars, but cannot touch this for handling. I did not rate the car a 10 because of a clutch leak (left me stranded) and rear styling is so so.

Disappointed - 2000 Mercury Mystique
By SAMNJKN - December 27 - 8:43 pmI bought this vehicle new.....took it for all the regular check-ups, oil change every 3,000 miles etc. At 80,000+ miles the engine blew. Yes, I had to replace the engine. Very disappointing because I took such good care of this car.

Great Little Car - 1998 Mercury Mystique
By soccertaz - January 18 - 4:56 amI bought this car brand new, have taken good care of it for the most part. It has had a lot of recalls, but they were little things and didnt take the dealership long to take care of them. I have had little problems with the car, had to have the AC redone, only have replaced the front brakes twice, and am currently having the back brakes done too, which isnt a necessity yet, but thought it was time to do it since the front ones needed new pads. I have found it is great in the snow, I have done better with it than people that own trucks. It is one of the best cars I have had and/or driven in my life. I have heard it called the "Mistake", but so far it hasnt been one for me.
