The Golf Wagon - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Kayse Nix - October 23 - 12:06 pmUpon retirement I wanted to replace my Explorer with a sporter car. One that would carry 2 sets of clubs, a push cart and luggage. Vacation and golf were 2 things that was on my mind. I found that in my 02 Mazda Protege 5. I could not have been happier. I dont know if I like the body style of the new 5, but I love the looks of my car.

My Baby - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Blake - September 19 - 11:10 amI just bought my Mazda, used of course, and I just love it. Something about the Protege5 that has everything I need. Sleek look, great for towing and moving, fun to drive. I love it! I just wish they made newer models.

perfect for me - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By john dixon - September 16 - 10:00 amNot the fastest acceleration in the world, but between cargo space, comfort, quality, HANDLING, and style this car is perfect. It also comes very equipped at a very good price.

2002 Mazda Protege5 - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Susieq - August 27 - 8:10 pmIve owned this car since 2003. So far no major work. Just oil and tune up and I have 196500 on it. Love that car and the way it drove. I say drove because the guy I was dating totaled it out. Im now looking for another car. Hoping to get one just like it. But I did have trouble with the headlights having to be replaced pretty frequently. I would recommend this car to young and old. Its fun and reliable.

P5 - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By pwn - August 14 - 10:00 amThis is a super fine car for the money. I think I paid about 19,000 fully loaded. It turns heads even on Miami Beach where everyone has a fine car. Only thing this car needs is more horsepower. Other than that it beats spending $30,000 on a BMW 3 series that everyone has.

alarm too sensitive - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By penfield - August 8 - 10:00 amLove the car! But, avoid a real pain in the butt and have the dealership reset the alarm sensitivity before you drive off the lot. We bought ours on a friday and spent half the weekend babysitting the WAY oversensitive alarm system, and half the weekend with the horn fuse pulled. Check sensitivity by tapping-kicking the tires. We have since been informed (by a salesman at another Mazda dealership) that the P-5 comes set at maximum sensitivity and needs to be reset to the lowest level.

Still Going After 170K Miles - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Bryce Be Quick - July 11 - 1:20 pmOutstanding build quality and handling. Dumped the original equipment Dunlops in favor of less expensive/better wearing Kumhos, and this has eliminated the hydroplaning issue as well. A true overdrive 5th gear would help the gas mileage. This is the car which helped make Mazda: other than the Miata, before this retooled Mazda sedan debuted in 2002, there was nothing in the Mazda stable to make good on the Companys "Zoom-Zoom-Zoom" ad campaign. Actually prefer the P5 to the second-gen Mazda 3 - yes, the 3 more refined, and with more horses, but the 130 HP P-5 has a kind of teenage spunk, whereas the 3 more the mature adult.

Quik Silver - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By clt1btr - June 26 - 10:00 amAfter taking a job 134 miles round trip away from my house, I needed a car that would be good on gas. After a sorrowful goodby with my Toyota 4Runner I purchased my P5. However, much to my suprise, the inexpensive commuter car quickly turned into one of the best cars I have ever had. Within a week after owning my P5 I was noticing countless stares and questions from people who were impressed with the car. The P5 is definitely an eyecatching, fun to drive, and exciting car for the money!!!

Mazda Protege 5 - 2002 it is the best! - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By cisco19 - June 14 - 7:56 amI do not know how to put in words how fun and exciting it is to drive the 2002 Mazda Protege 5, I hate to admit it but I am a slow driver but for me to get a speeding ticket going over 75 miles per hour on the freeway, I know is stupid but believe it or not, I took it as a compliment that I have the talent and the automobile to go fast on the road. The gas mileage is fantastic! in addition the 2002 Mazda Protege 5 is unique and will always be in my point of view one of the best automobiles that I have ever owned. In addition, if I have the chance and the opportunity to have another Mazda Protege 5 no matter what year, I would certainly take full advantage of that.
