This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, power sliding doors are an option for both the LX and ES trim levels. A towing package and a cargo organizer are two other new options. Also, an alarm and engine immobilizer are now part of a security package, and a cassette player is available on the ES trim level. The LX trim now rides on 16-inch wheels. Inside, floor and cargo mats are now standard on both trim levels, while outside, you'll see a new exhaust tip.

Pros:
  • Compact and maneuverable, confident handling manners, roll-down windows in the sliding doors.
Cons:
  • Limited maximum cargo capacity, lacks some features found in the other minivans.

love my van! only flaw is the location of the a/c button. it is not visible to the driver due to the drive stick in thew way. Also the tilt is too difficult to work. Bad place to put it- under the steerint wheel.

Traded an ailing Buick LeSabre on an 03 LX. Overall my wife and I enjoy it and are very pleased with the purchase.

  • Found my Mini Van - 2003 Mazda MPV

Being a young Couple with two Kids, It was difficult to accept we were going into a mini van, Well Mazdas MPV ES made the transition feel natural, with the roof rack, spoiler, fog lights and leather, we were very impressed it looked sporty and most of all it fit our needs, So far no complaints, we wanted the 04" with the better looking front grill and standard features, but a price of $21,000 before taxes we couldnt resist. and most of all the kids seem to love it : )

I love this van, it drives wonderfully, corners and brakes well, and for $7,000 less than the comperable equiped Honda... its a better buy.

  • The Best for Less - 2003 Mazda MPV

The Mazda MPV is quite simply the best minivan for the money. It offers a car- like ride and performance yet has enough cargo space to haul the whole family across the country, I cant say enough good things about this vehicle. You can get into a nicely equipped MPV for around or just over $20k, try to do that with the new Nissan Quest that is set to debut in the summer of 03. The Nissan dealers told us to expect prices STARTING at $27k. Its a freakin Nissan minivan. There was a time when Nissan products offered the most car for the money. I think Mazda has taken over that title.

  • Bought it new and it was the worst van - 2003 Mazda MPV

I bought this van in 2004 brand new.By the time I traded it in at 82,000 miles, the service people knew me too well.I did all scheduled maintenance yet had to replace:transmission sensor, CV joint, all coil packs, EGR boost sensor, starter, radiator, engine mounts, oxy sensor, coolant reservoir, control arms, range selector switchpurge valve, manifold ans more to the tune of thousands. The body was rusting and the carpet wore out quick. After forking out 20,000 to buy it and all the expensive repairs on parts that should not have been worn until after 100,000 miles, I am upset with Mazda makers.I paid 400 for a sensor and was told the convertor, tranny coolant hoses and water pump were bad.Trade in!Grrr

  • One of the best car we have ever owned - 2003 Mazda MPV
    By -

Our 2003 MPV has 60 miles on it and is one of the best buys we ever made. Its been a great "school bus" for the grandkids, a versatile hauler for big purchases or trips to the dump. Its been very reliable, with only one set of tires and normal oil change maintenance needed.

  • Very good, but not without its faults - 2003 Mazda MPV

After much research, the wife and I decided to go with the LX MPV, with most of the trimmings: Power doors, DVD, 4 seasons package, etc... We were able to get everything we wanted on the LX, saving ourselves about $7K over the Odyssey (31K w/ DVD). Weve had it for about a month now and are happy with our choice except for a few things. See below. 1. There is a fan on the DVD player that goes ALL the time, regardless if the unit is on or not. No help from dealer: "its supposed to be like that". Overall, the car performs as promised. Quick accelation, excellent handling, and supurb AC (especially for rear seat passengers). Stylish and fast. Great for a small family of 4. Only negative is fumes from exhaust - nasty!

  • Nice Rig - 2003 Mazda MPV

Had a Voyager and replaced the transmission. Had a caravan and replaced the tranny twice. Five trannies between two vehicles. Spoke to friends about this. Astonished to learn that they too had replaced the trannies on their American vans. That, to me, is inexcuseable. I am really pleased with the Mazda. Nice fit and finish on interior and exterior. Alloy wheels really enhance the look. Great stereo. Smooth ride and the 3 Liter engine is just right. This choice was a no brainer. A small van but about as big as a full size SUV (but without the guilt !) Easily the best valued van of the Odessey \ Sienna\ MPV grouping.
