Overview & Reviews
The Sorento is an all-new SUV from Kia. Larger and more powerful than the pint-size Sportage (which is expected to return for 2004 after a 2003 hiatus, by the way), the Sorento straddles the emerging middle ground between small SUVs and midsize SUVs. And it does so while offering interested buyers true off-road ability. Key competitors are the Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V, the Jeep Liberty, the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota Highlander.
- Great value, class-leading warranty coverage, long list of standard features, solid construction, true off-road capability.
- Engine needs more power, subpar fuel economy, seat upholstery could stand improvement.

Bargain Luxury and Style - 2003 Kia Sorento
By noelsboyce - March 16 - 3:10 amWhat began as a search for a luxury vehicle including such names as Lexus and Acura, quickly led us to a little known bargain of the Kia Sorento. The looks are comparable to the big two aforementioned, while the price wasnt half of equally aged vehicles. The 2003 Sorento EX is the "upscale" model. Our includes leather, tow, Harman Kardon sound, power everything, sunroof, etc. We got ours with slightly higher mileage for just under $12K. We did however opt for the additional extended warranty. The vehicle rides extremely smooth compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee we traded in. The luxury appointments are very well suited for a small suv class vehicle. All in all a bargain for the price and year

nice surprise - 2003 Kia Sorento
By john1 - February 17 - 10:00 amI have had the Sorento for 7 mos and have put 12,100 miles on it, Have taken to long trips, first was 1000 miles r/t the second was 3,900 miles r/t this was from Florida to Canada and many places inbetween. The ride was great and very comfortable, gas milage varied from 19 MPG to 24 MPG (this was at 60 miles per hour in Canada. 2 Adults and 2 children with luggage for a 2 wk vacation and still had enough room, neaver got tired driving and have had no problems whatsoever. The dealer service dept has been excellent with the 2 oil chng and servicing I have had.

Warranty is just a Word - 2003 Kia Sorento
By UnhappyOwner - February 15 - 10:03 amBeware of the warranty, Kia really does not cover much at all. 10-Year 100,000 mile warranty really means that anytime you have a problem the dealer will attempt to explain why it is not covered. The warranty is garbage. Do not let the warranty enter into your decision to purchase this vehicle because the warranty is a big joke.

3 months and still thrilled ! - 2003 Kia Sorento
By dlb14frost - January 16 - 2:00 amMust say Im VERY pleased with my Sorento EX 4X4. Vehicle has the luxury package but no ABS or load leveling and so far havent needed either. Its been colder and snowier than average here and its handled well in the snow conditions. I have to admitt its probably been the most fun to drive vehicle Ive ever had. Used to drive Subaru Outback and Forester but I like the Kia better. I was a bit reluctant to try a Kia but glad I made the switch !

This little beast kicks serious %$*^! - 2003 Kia Sorento
By RedhairMac - January 6 - 10:00 amIve been the proud owner of a Kia Sorento for 6 mos and love it more every day. I fondly refer to it as "Beastie" because of how efficiently it devours the road. It looks so good too, at a price way below the competition. Do yourself a favor and before you buy anything, try the Sorento! (Have you seen the movie "Seabiscuit"? Well, this tough little SUV is Seabiscuit!

After all these years...love my Sorento - 2003 Kia Sorento
By Diane Babcock - December 16 - 9:53 amI saw my new Kia at the local dealer and was immediately impressed with the design. After hearing it was a KIA I was a bit concerned, I knew nothing about the brand. I test drove and did my research, took the plunge and have been very pleased. I now have nearly 50K miles on her and Im so impressed with the reliability. Not a thing has gone wrong in 3 years. My Sorento has been inexpensive to maintain as well. Overall this was a fantastic buy, especially at the $24K price tag.

First Time Kia Owner - 2003 Kia Sorento
By BBallDad - November 24 - 10:00 amAfter looking at many SUVs on the market the Sorrento is by far the best buy for your buck. So far (knock wood) we have had no problems and the gas mileage is improving (albeit still slightly under 20 mpg on the highway). The wife and kids love the car especially the sunroof and I love the payments!
