Overview & Reviews
The Grand Cherokee is all new for 2005. Among the improvements are new four-wheel-drive systems, an independent front suspension, three excellent engine options and better ergonomics and build quality.
- Strong engine lineup, unmatched off-road ability, balanced handling, long list of advanced safety equipment, solid warranty.
- Hard plastic interior surfaces could use some padding, less cargo capacity than most midsize SUVs.

What a Ride - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By TJ - September 8 - 5:56 amThe new Limited Laredo with the Hemi engine as compared to the last 2 Jeeps owned is SUPERIOR! The ride is smooth, plenty of power to tow, it is quiet and fun to drive. Yes, the gas mileage is what the sticker says (16.5 in town and 19 highway) but is worth the slight additional cost in fuel. We have not experienced any problems during the first 2000 miles and I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Wouldnt Buy One Again - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By dbs - September 4 - 7:13 pmToo expensive on gas. Decent SUV for the price, however, its just good for now. I only wish that I had known the gas mileage would be so poor. The pickup on the car is not great. Also has a tendency to seem as though it is not going to make it to the right gear.

Love my jeep but not again - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By sherry - August 30 - 10:00 amI bought my Jeep used only a year old. I had no problems with it till 2008. I had to replace the blend door in it ($763) of course the warranty wouldnt take care of it. Last winter i went to start it and one of the rods popped off. (WOW) and again the warranty didnt pay. Now this year right before summer, AGAIN, the blend door breaks again, another ($763). My transmission will slip once in awhile so Im sure that will be next. I have never had a car with this many BIG problems in such a short time. My gosh its only 5 years old.

Excellent Vehicle and Great Value! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ryan328 - August 28 - 2:16 amThis car is efficient; I get 18.5 mpg in town. Excellent offroad I have to say. I also have a Wrangler, so I know what offroading is about. I am a hunter, fisherman and ride quads so I use it quite a bit. It never gets stuck. No reliability issues, itÂ’s been solid and is very smooth. I would recommend to anyone. My friends 2005 4Runner broke his rack and pinion while on a hunting expedition and my Jeep towed him home over the same terrain. Toyotas arent what they used to be. He now drives a Jeep. For the price you pay get something that will do what you need.

REDEFINES SPORT IN SUV - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By WTD - August 2 - 1:33 pmWith over 4 years and nearly 60,000 miles I have to say this has been the best SUV ever ! Ive been in all driving conditions ( 10in. of snow, down pours, gravel, dirt, uphill, towing and uneven pavement ) with zero problems. JEEP handled everything with ease. Equipped with 3.7L engine and 4WD has plenty of power for road use. Gas mileage was much better at over 22 hwy and 18 city than the Honda Pilot I got rid of.

Great so far - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By living42 - July 18 - 1:20 amAll new style for 2005. Wife as always picked this model and color out but I said it had to have a HEMI (GUY THING). We havent even filled up the gas tank yet and judging by how quickly the gas needle sinks Im not looking forward to it. Leather seats are nice and seat heat is a favorite with me. We have had it for only a short time but I feel this was a sound investment.

Jeep - the only true SUV - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Loraine - July 14 - 12:16 pmHave owned a 2004 Laredo before owning the Limited - this vehicle was a 4-wheel drive SUV before anyone else ever had one. This is by and far the best 4-wheel drive vehicle out there.

been a good rig - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jimsjeep1 - July 1 - 5:12 pmI Bought this Jeep in 2005 brand new. It has been reliable and fun to drive. I drive about 35000 miles a year and this vehicle has served me well. I only took it to the dealer a few times and the rest of the time the local oil change place. It has 201,000 miles on it and I am going to trade it in for something that gets better mileage. No major problems. Maybe they run better when you run the heck out of em!

Transmission - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By out of luck - June 27 - 10:43 pmI bought this jeep used, I have only had it 6 months. It has 64,000 miles on it. It has no warranty on it because i bought it used. I took it to the dealership and it now needs a new transmission, which they quoted $3,00-$4000.
