  • The Jeep I was waiting for - 2006 Jeep Commander

As a previous owner of an XJ Cherokee, I am partial to the boxy styling. The Commander is what XJs should grow up to become. I have the HEMI. Bought it used with 38K. Has the comfort and ride of a luxury car, but has the power of a sports car. I needed more comfort, room and power and boy did I get it. While there are some squirrelly issues with it, I think it is nit picking. Any major issues have been addressed with TSBs or recalls. Know that any enormous SUV will have bad gas mileage. That aside, this is another keeper for me for some time. Do your homework if you want one, and just pony up for the HEMI. I would not buy new - buy used and take advantage of the depreciation.

  • Exceeds expectations, 5.7 hemi - 2006 Jeep Commander

I bought this Commander about 18 months ago with 140k miles. Limited, 5.7L 4x4 quadradrive-II. I am in North Carolina, Raleigh; I think this was a California car, thats where home was on the GPS. I love this Jeep, my third, two Grand Cherokees before (1998 & 2000), this is my favorite. I do a lot of maintenance myself, or at least diagnose before going to the shop; never to the Jeep dealership if it can be helped. I have not had to perform any non-maintenance activities since ownership. My wife has our 2000 GC Larado 2WD with almost 200k miles (amazing relialibity) and I plan on upgrading to a (2015+) Grand cherokee 4wd Overland in the next 18 months or so.

  • Loving my Jeep Commander! - 2006 Jeep Commander

I love this vehicle. It has brought my family so much fun. We have discovered parts of Long Island that we never new about. It is an animal on the beach. I have never had any problems at all. This jeep runs great. We bought it as a demo with 9,000 miles on it. It is terrific in all kinds of weather. Snow is not an issue, you feel completely safe driving in it. It is easy to drive and the rear back up sensors are the best. The third row is a bit tight for teens and adults. Smaller children have plenty of space. You feel nothing but a smooth ride. The V8 has a lot of power and pulls our 5,700 lb. travel trailer with no problem. I love this jeep and recommend it highly.

  • Thanks Son! - 2006 Jeep Commander

I bought this vehicle after my son suggested it to us. We were trading a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT when my son said check out the Commander. After a test drive and a great dealer price we have a great vehicle that is safe and fun to drive. If it wasnt for my son and his study of the vehicle I was looking at an GMC Envoy. Try this one and you will like it.

  • All rolled into one... - 2006 Jeep Commander

It has styling cues from the Jeeps of old, luxury interior that share parts with Mercedes Benzs, great ride and comfort features. Its trail rated and can tow almost as much as my Dodge Ram. It has a presence when you go somewhere fancy and strength when you go off-road. It will tow my old Jeep, carry 5 adults in comfort and still have room for some cargo. And to top it all off its more manuverable than a lot of bigger SUVs out there. Parking is never a problem anymore and its features help in backing out.

  • Commander Limited 5.7 4x2 - 2006 Jeep Commander

Without a doubt one of the best vehicles Ive ever driven. Love the power of the 5.7 Hemi. Fuel economy isnt bad for a big V-8, averaging about 16 mpg in mixed driving. Front seat comfort is great, rear DVD is a must have w/ wireless headphones. Rear seat passengers have a great view with rear sunroofs and stadium style seating. The rear seat is a bit snug, though, but great for children or smaller adults. Love the styling, it really stands out, mine is Inferno Red and love the way it looks with the chrome finish wheels. Rides great, especially on long highway trips.

  • LOVE IT!!!! Continuing the Jeep Legacy! - 2006 Jeep Commander

Have the V6 4wd commander with only 50,233 miles on it, bought it 2 months ago and love it!!! Cant complain about the gas mileage because of the similar sizes of the vehicles in its class getting way less MPGS!

  • Best of All - 2006 Jeep Commander

Already own a Yukon XL and am a dedicated GMC owner. Needed another but smaller SUV. Looked at everything including H3 and BMW X5. Commander blew me and the competition away. Got fully loaded Commander. Just love it. Fun to drive, great price. Very quick. Extremely comfortable. Quality is very high. Dont waste money on BMW, Lexus, or Cadillac. Commander is better than all of them at at least $10,000 less.

This is the best and most fun auto I have ever owned. Mine has all the bells and whistles and had a sticker price of over $44,000. It has the 5.7L engine. Ill probably never own anything else.

I wanted the feel of a SUV but something not as large, I traded my Expedition in for the Commander and I am very satisfied with the vehicle.
