This Year's Model Updates:

The sedan receives exterior styling revisions with a new hood, grille, bumpers, side sills, taillights and wheels. Sedans now make as much power as the coupes -- 280 hp (up from 260) and 270 lb-ft of torque (also up from 260) on models with an automatic transmission. Coupes and sedans equipped with a manual transmission get even more power (298 hp) but sacrifice 10 lb-ft of torque. Sedans with the sport suspension package also pick up 18-inch wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. All G35s get a redesigned instrument panel and console area with aluminum or wood trim, and the manual transmission has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort. A Sport version of the coupe debuts this year and includes an even firmer suspension, a limited-slip differential, 19-inch forged alloy wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. Oddly, though, Brembo brakes are no longer available on manual-shift coupes.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, balanced and capable handling, roomy cabin, reasonable price.
Cons:
  • Average interior materials quality, touchy brakes.

  • No Regrets from a Grown-up Gearhead - 2005 Infiniti G35

First, I must be honest and state that I bought the car only three months ago. Since I have put about 900 miles on it. It rides smooth but lets you feel the torgue at command. It is the perfect hybrid if you love your sports car with a hint of luxury. The inside is clean and sleek and the honestly feel that the outside is timeless and will be an eyeturner for years to come. When I was a teenager I always loved the 300zx for its styling inside and out. When the new 350z came out I was disappointed at the bare bones muscle, and plastic type set up. The G35 Coupe is what the new 350z should be. Hell, they have the same engine.

I bought this car in November and have driven it for 2 months. It lives up to its billing performance wise. The car has near muscle car power and corners like its on the "proverbial" rails. As expected the ride is ultra firm and you can feel every crack in the pavement. Steering is precise if not a bit too stiff. If you live in the north beware, the car is terrible in snow. I also have the Nav system and without the touch screen, it is much less user friendly the the one in my 01 Acura CL. You really have to pull over to change virtually any setting. The joystick vs. touchscreen is a mistake. All things considered, this is a fun car to drive, but does have some downsides

While the 2005 G35X is fun to drive in a straight line and pretty goon on flat turns, after just 4 months I am ready to take a bath on it and get a 2006 BMW 3 series. The brake peddle squeeks, the windows rattle too much and there is a noise in the pillar that drives me nuts. It is fun to drive, roomy and less than a BMW, but as they say you get what you pay for and it doesnt feel near as solid as a Jetta I once had. After just 1000 miles the firm solid ride turned into a floating avg. car. To me its little more than an Altima with luxury features. I got XM, Premium, DVD in mine. Over all I am very disappointed with the purchase.

  • Happy Driver! - 2005 Infiniti G35

Got my 05 Sedan last day of April. Have driven 750 very happy miles. Ive been driving a boat (Suburban) for so long, I forgot what acceleration was! Love the looks of this car, and the handling cant be beat! Every morning when I start it up, a get that great, hearty HUMMMMM, its awesome! My mom has an 05 BMW 5 series, and when she drove my G35 sedan, she said "I could have saved $18,000 and been really happy with this car!"

  • One year owning the Infiniti G35 Cpe - 2005 Infiniti G35

I love everything about my car but one thing. I gave it a score of "4" on Build Quality only because the car is too low. This is not my first sports car so I know they come low to the ground but on the Coupe you can actually go over a simple can or small rock in the road and it will scrape the undercarriage and make it sound likes its tearing it up. You also have to be extremely careful of potholes too..and I mean small ones.

  • Awesome to drive but poor quality - 2005 Infiniti G35

The G35X is THE most fun car to drive that Ive ever owned in 30 years of driving. Outstanding performance, agile, smooth. Only two small issues with the car, that would have made the car "perfect". First -- interior quality. There is a squeak in the drivers door, that the dealer cannot find or fix. Back 3 times, still no fix. Very frustrating. Second is the very touchy brakes. Extremely sensitive, and also wear quickly. Dealer replaced them free of charge after less than 20k miles after reported a brake squeal. So -- GREAT to drive, but 2 annoying issues.

  • everything the 350Z isnt - 2005 Infiniti G35

very nice car, doesnt look 8 years old. body style is timeless. if you can, get a 06 6-speed but @ least try to get a 05 they did a much needed refresh. got almost 90,000 miles on the original clutch. i was looking for a 350Z but i could find one with the options i wanted & the G35 has all those options standard so i got the G35. also most 350Zs are modded to hell!

  • My Infiniti G35 coupe - 2005 Infiniti G35

Okay, so this car is amazing. First of all, I bought this for a good price. Its an 05 Infiniti G35 coupe. Its got dual exhaust which brings the horse power to 285. Great on highways, very loud. Leather interior touch screen GPS built in. I have a 70.000 mile warranty on her :) Brakes are great. This car has so much power I cant even go an hour without driving her. I got a Blue one with a cream strip. The engine is perfect and the alarm on it is great. If someone even gets close to my car my remote will tell me to go out and check it, so high tech! I highly recommend this car, classy sexy and with the perks of a nice fast sports car. You wont regret it!

  • Too many problems - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

Im not happy with the car after almost two years. The mileage is horrible (15 mpg) and the brakes have been replaced twice already at 18,000 miles. The cd changer has gone out twice and the tires are cupping and making lots of noise. Since the backs are a different size and they are unidirectional, they cant be rotated. Road noise is very loud from the tires. Im ready to sell it.
