This Year's Model Updates:

After a complete redesign last year, the 2010 Honda Pilot stands pat except for standard two-stage heated seats on the EX-L model and integrated rear window sunshades on the Touring.

Pros:
  • Pleasant ride, perfect crash test scores, decently roomy third-row seat, smooth V6, clever interior storage features.
Cons:
  • Back-of-the-pack brakes, sluggish acceleration, unremarkable fuel economy, button-heavy center stack.

  • Just one little annoying thing... - 2010 Honda Pilot

This is our first Honda, and so far, it has been a great vehicle for our family of 4. Gas mileage averages 19-20mpg. I immediately liked the exterior boxy styling and more rugged appearance than the old Pilots. Drives well and feels very solid on the road. The only issue weve had is the slope of the rear cargo area when the 3rd row seats are folded down. Some things roll out easily due to the slanted surface. The optional cargo net became a necessity after a gallon of milk rolled out and crashed onto the driveway.

New Pilot feels much larger than the previous model. The windshield is narrower and the hood sits much higher. The truck feels very solid and rides more quietly than our 2004 did. The center console can be a little confusing to operate until you have studied it a little while. The voice operation of items takes a little practice, but is great to use.

  • Old GPS DVD - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

We love this car. Its fun to drive, feels very solid on the highway. The only problem we encountered is we noticed that the GPS system didnt have a toll road that had been open for almost 2 years on its map. When we checked the DVD driving the system it was the 2008 DVD....in a 2010 car! Not good.

  • Best SUV for the Money! - 2010 Honda Pilot

My wife and I were trying to decide between the 2010 Pilot Touring and the Buick Enclave EXL. The Enclave is nicer to look at than the Pilot but a bit too expensive (EXL w/o Nav or DVD $39k). The Pilot Touring model with Nav, DVD, Bluetooth, and HFL cost us $36k so we went with the more cost effective option. We are very glad we made this decision because it rides beautifully and the 3 kids absolutely love the new toy! It gets about the same gas mileage as our old 2000 Odyssey so were not too concerned. Ill be adding the after- market chrome running boards and chrome mesh grill next week to make it prettier. If youre gonna buy a Pilot, the Touring model is the way to go!

  • Needs some changes - 2010 Honda Pilot

The 2010 Pilot is an excellent choice for large sized SUV. It provides great comfort and rideability, and has ample room for 8 people. The interior design is excellent except for usage of cheap looking plastic on the dashboard. One thing I missed from my CRV was the conversation mirror, which was great for checking on your kids, without turning your head. Performance wise, the Pilot is no slouch, but its probably the first guzzler from Honda. All over the internet people are complaining of poor mileage. I am hard pressed to get their EPA 17 mpg in city. Braking distance is another valid complaint, it takes more distance to stop when braking at 60mph and above.

  • Fuel mileage overrated - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have only driven 4000KMs; like the handling and power of this vehicle but am terribly disappointed with gas mileage. If I had known it was this bad I would not have bought this vehicle. My 8 cylinder pickup was better when towing. Its not bad when driven a long distance on the highway when not towing. Honda has severely overrated the mileage of this vehicle. It is not even close to the numbers they suggest. Towing mileage is brutal, 20.1 lts/hundred over 300kms. They should have installed a bigger tank because you are constantly stopping for fuel. I find this vehicle has a lot of road noise compared to my last vehicle. Its possible its the type of tires but it should be better.

  • Front end pulls to the right - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

The vehicle constantly pulls to the right. I have brought it back to the dealer 7 times, they gave it (brand new vehicle) 7 wheel alignments. The service representative from Honda will not admit that it pulls to the right. This is a extremely dangerous situation, I am constantly holding the wheel to the left. I am very disappointed with Hondas service. I have read about the same complaints on several web-sites. By the way the 2009 Honda Pilot drives straight.

  • Better gas mileage that I planned for!!! - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have had the Pilot for just over a week. It is the best vehicle I have had thus far. (4th Honda we have purchased) Rides great and interior room is great. Child loves the RES. The ECO mode is great. In town mileage I am getting 18.5mpg took it on the highway this weekend for a trip averaged 24mpg on the way to our destination an 25mpg on the way home!!! Yes you read that right. That was also with regular 87 octane. If you do your part it can do its part.

  • Excellent SUV - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

My girlfriend purchased a Pilot. We looked at all of its competitors in class, and the Pilot was the undeniable standout. We took it to Colorado and put it through the paces - EXCELLENT comfort, good views, handles superbly offroad (we went on some really craggy/bumpy rock roads ... steep too). The rear-diff lock is a definite plus (and helpful in steep spots). The Pilot is incredibly comfortable, exceptionally roomy. She got the EX-L, and its comfort and ride are awesome. Only negative is that the steering is heavier than some might like, but that makes it really solid at highway speed. The backup mirror is VERY useful. It eats gas (we got 23 mpg between Tucson and Telluride).

  • 2010 Pilot - 2010 Honda Pilot

The Pilot is built like vault. Feels very stable and solid on the road especially highway. Compared it to a Toyota Highlander but finally chose pilot as it is wider and lot more comfortable for ALL 8 occupants. Also note that the curb weight is 500 lbs higher than that of highlander giving it a slightly lower mileage but more solid feel.
