  • Unhappy since 2003 - 2003 Honda Pilot

Leased my pilot the first year out, and will never do that again. I have been unhappy with this car since the first month I bought it. There are things that you dont realize in your 10- minute test drive. My biggest complaint is the extremely poor design of the driver seat -it leans back instead of supporting your head,it protrudes behind your shoulders, and there is no lower back support. I get back aches whenever I drive more than 20 minutes. Also, very little leg room for us long-legged drivers. Other problems Ive had: struts were replaced after 2 years, shifts roughly going uphill, loud squeaking when backing up,front air-vents wont stay stationary. Cant wait to turn it in!

do not wait if you need tires,no one carrys the bridgestone tire size p235/70r/16.My pilot is sitting in the drive way waiting on a new tire which takes 3 to 5 days to get.

  • unable to fix noise - 2003 Honda Pilot

My Pilot has a "clanking" noise in the right rear wheel area when on rough roads. I have taken it to both the local dealers. One replaced the right rear drive shaft, to no avail. The other dealer also documented the noise and called Honda. He was told that "all Pilots make this noise." It is in the trailing arm, they say. I wish one of their higher-ups could drive it! I would certainly be surprised, if they all made this noise!

  • This is not an - 2003 Honda Pilot

I have owned an Acura MDX for 5 months which I absolutely love. As a result, I ordered a Pilot. I was surprised at the $31K price, which is within $4K of my MDX, despite the fact that the Pilot has no sunroof and 1 year/14,000 miles less warranty, etc. The exterior looks like an oversized CRV. The quality of the interior was not even in the same universe as the MDX (too many things to list, just compare for yourself). It did drive comparably to the MDX. In my opinion, the Pilot is a total rip-off compared the MDX. Before you buy a Pilot, check out the MDX. We ended up with a new Sequoia for only $750 more.

  • This Is A Honda? - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I so wanted to love this car! But what a disappointment. Much of the blame goes to the service dept. at the dealership who scratched the ENTIRE side of my car when it was in for running board installation. This led to a trip to their body shop, which tore my car apart to repaint. Voila! I was left with a whistling windshield, ill-fitting moldings and clanky suspension noises. Back to the service dept.---> windshield still whistles, & the clanking has been replaced with a bucket-of-bolts-style clicking noise from the brakes. "Pilots are known for this" says the service guy. Lovely. To make a long story short, my Pilots for sale. Im getting a BMW.

  • Disappointed in my 5th Honda - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

This is my 5th honda and it will likelybe my last! The quality has steadily declined. The leather seats sag and Honda is unconcerned! The interior plastic the use is so easily dented that the seat belt retractor has dented the door post repeatedly. There are numerous raddles and ticking noises. The gas mileage is around 16MPG which is below expectations. I think the changes the name on the old Honda quality to Acura and they dont care about their original brand!

  • breaking in a new vehicle - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I waited 1 year for this SUV and i think it was well worth it. It drives like a "moms car"; soft, quiet, etc and has all the utility features of a minivan. im not sure about reliability because, right off the lot, rear heating didnt work and one of the front vent broke off. other than than, i get the feeling that the car is well built all around, typical of honda. my thumb is up and we(my relatives) are getting 3 more of these suvs.

  • Problems with my Pilot - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought my Pilot for list price on July 20th and I am extremely disappointed. The front hood, side panels, and the front grid/bumper do not align properly and cannot be corrected. Passenger side door light cover was missing. Window trim was bent. Intermittent problem with acceleration (feels like its not getting gas at times) Rear AC vent fins broke. "Side air bag off" warning light flashes on and off at times and is scheduled for repair.

  • Steeting Wheel Vibration(s) - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

We have come to "like" the car, but after numerous attempts to figure out what causes the wheel vibration - I am about to loose it. New Tires, 6 wheel balanceing efforts (with Hunters 3-way Road Force machine) all to no avail. Smooth as can be until 70mph and then hold on for any increase speeds after that. Other - overall - reliability has been poor - heater blower, two vents, front strut have all needed replcaing.......this is not up to Hondas standards
