  • more than numbers - 2003 Honda Pilot

Its too bad the Edmunds ratings scale doesnt ask how Id rate the value of the vehicle because it would certainly be a 10. Asking if a "utility" vehicle is fun to drive is just plain silly, so Im forced to give it a 7, which drags down the average score. So one just needs to look past the numbers to see how this vehicle stacks up against the competition. If you want 3 rows of seats, AWD, power to spare, and 20 mpg, all for less than $30K, theres nothing better than this one.

Researching new vehicles already. Pilot is a let-down. Great value & great protection for me & 5 month old when hit (back driver-side) by a light- runner (40 mph w/$10k damage). The problem - the roof rack piece falling off & after 5 trips to the dealer they cant get rid insane rattling (windows+). My husband hates the road noise & the signature sound rounding corners. After looking at the Yukon and Sequoia, Im going to miss the storage and my payment. If only...

  • Fun To Drive / Poor initial Quality - 2003 Honda Pilot

Things that have gone wrong in the first 6 months:DVD player replaced due to faulty sensor, faulty oil pressure sensor replaced, drivers power window switch(auto down feature) broke, drivers seat loose and dealer cant find fix, passenger side seat recliner broke (part on back order),rear seat A/C vents fragile and have broke twice, left front A/C vent loose and wont stay in the position you want, clunking/thunmping noise under the hood when you turn on A/C,battery died (dealer replaced).I truly believe these are teething problems,as we have one of the first made.I will NEVER buy a first year model again.

We like our Pilot (family of 4 - kids age 8 & 5). Suits our needs fine, without breaking our budget. We esp. like the RES (DVD) setup... finally some peace and quiet for those longer rides (kids put headphones on and then my wife & I can talk w/o interruption)! Decent power. Would recommend the vehicle... actually I have several times already. A Good value.

  • Nice Alternative - 2003 Honda Pilot

I traded in my 1999 ML320 for a brand new Pilot with navigation. Shopped around and final settled with my local dealer at MSRP and a "pro package" at dealer cost. Also added the wood trim package and a DVD/tv tuner for the car. Was really surprised that I was able to get MSRP considering this dealer was asking $4000 over and the local dealers are notorious for not making good deals. Fun car, though disappointed with the gas mileage.

  • Three-Month Difference - 2003 Honda Pilot

I had the PILOT now for 4 months and Iam really satisfied with its performance except for two things. 1) Fuel economy is not true. This truck consumes gas like crazy!! 2)Iam having slight slow startup problems. Other than those two minor complaints, Iam generally happy with my PILOT. I also should have waited for another 3 more months before buying my PILOT. Why? The answer is $5,000.00 difference in the ourchase price.
