  • Wonderful Minivan - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I had this Odyssey for just one week. The whole family just loves it. Interior is very comfortable and more luxurious than a Sienna XLE. Making a U-Turn is a piece of cake. It feels secure to drive and has a smooth ride.

  • LOVE THIS VAN - 2005 Honda Odyssey

We should have had this van when all kids were at home! We own the EX-L model and enjoy everything about it. Best of all is the room that we have. Everyone is 57" or much taller and we all have plenty of leg and head room. Used this van to move my son home from college. With the middle seats out and the back seats stored, we put his x-long single mattress and boxspring on its side and still had plenty of room for his other stuff. For long camping trips, we take out the middle seats, drop the rear seats and put in two road bikes, camping gear and luggage. Very comfortable and convenient. Young son and friends, all 6+ took it on road trip and enjoyed the comfort.

Seems that Honda should resolve issues of fit and finish quickly before custumers start seriously considering moving to other makes, especially those offering 10yr 100,000m war. Had front brake problems-after several attempts there was a fix with a redesigned pad that stopped grinding noise. Replaced tires at 40000. Glove boxes cant be alligned, noise around 3 doors, electrical problem a mystery- after rainstorm, no power with doorlocks, AC, lights and Info display. Some plastic interior pieces pops out. Replaced 4 interior bulbs. Hits hard over bumbs with pax tires. Mic went on navigation. Paint peeling on roof rack, water in fog light. Starting to feel tugs when cms activates.

My husband & I have 4 kids including twins. After we bought the van we went on a road trip to south Texas from North California. We were very comfortable! Our kids were very happy with the DVD player ages are 7,4,2. The trip was relaxing. Impressed with the power through the mountains and a very smooth ride. Would do the trip again! Very happy with the van. We got a good deal through the fleet sales manger. Would recommend the van!

  • low mpg and build quality - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I am disappointed with my purchase for the following reasons: low mileage (14.5 mpg city, 24 mpg high way). The car has about a dozen different rattles depending on the outside temperature. The driver and front passenger seat are not comfortable due to the position of the (non- telescoping) steering wheel. The doors do not close well, together with the wind noise you never feel secure about properely shut doors. The doors had to be aligned, since they were chipping the paint. The car has a bumpy ride, it in no way doubles as a sedan, its a truck with 8 seats. The raised expectations were clearly not met. You should do a much more extensive test drive then me before you buy.

The minivan is only a month old but is way better than our 1997 dodge grand caravan.

  • PAX Tires - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

My wife and I really like this vehicle. Perfect for talking the family around town or on trips. That said, I would not buy the touring model again because of the PAX tires. They do not give good mileage. I replaced mine at 21000. And they are overpriced. This fact was not made prior to buying the vehicle. The replacement will probably be a crossover and a Toyota. Sorry Honda.

  • Fix these things... - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I like most things about the odyssey except the build quality wasnt up to todays standards. Door gaps too big and doors not aligned well. Wind noise from sliding doors noticeable at highway speeds. My main peeve is the road noise. It drowns out the radio and conversation on roads with a slightly rough surface. Only on super smooth asphalt highways is it nice and quiet. This should be fixed ages ago, since GM, Ford have never had a road noise problem. Mine is a 2003, incidently, and maybe the new van is better, but reports still mention road noise. Gear shifter blocks dash switch. Steering wheel blocks left side switches from view.

  • Fits the bill! - 2005 Honda Odyssey

All in all, the best "long range" vehicle we have ever had. Comfortable for adults, kids, even the pet dog! Reliability with 35k on the clock has been perfect, but that is what we expected with a Honda. Interior layout and comfort is excellent, and exterior styling is pleasingly aggressive compared to its competition. Only gripe - fuel mileage. On trips we get 23 MPG at 75 MPH, not even close to the advertised 28 MPG that our "VCM" model is advertised to be capable of. It seems that at typical freeway speed, there is too much weight / aero drag to allow the engine to go into 3 cylinder mode - maybe a 6/4/3 cylinder selection would be better? Towing package is well thought out also.
