This Year's Model Updates:

The CD-equipped audio system with four speakers is now standard equipment, and the fuel consumption gauge's illumination color changes from green to red. All Honda cars gain a new seatbelt reminder system this year.

Pros:
  • Amazing fuel economy, quick steering, lots of standard equipment.
Cons:
  • Batteries drain fast under continual electric motor assist, highly susceptible to crosswinds, not much point-and-shoot power on tap, small payload capacity.

  • Great car for the money - 2004 Honda Insight
    By -

My wife and I traded in a full size Nissan king cab truck and have saved thousands of dollars in fuel alone. This car is very fun to drive, as long as your not trying to blow away people at stop lights. You have to be very smart when driving this car, as it is battery assisted and you will need to rely on the battery for true fuel savings. Remember, the battery acts like an overdrive, it helps you get up to speed and helps you out with the fuel that you would normally use to get up to cruising speed. This is one of the best cars we have ever owned, if not the best. Just keep in mind, the way you drive this car will directly impact your fuel savings, and winter driving can be quite hairy.

  • MOST FUN CAR - 2004 Honda Insight

I have four cars....Mercedes 280 convertible,VW Cabriolet convertible, Mazda truck, and the Honda....It is the most fun car I have ever had and I never feel like I ever need to fill it.The only thing lacking is leather uphostery but I love zipping around in it more than any car I have owned. All my cars have a reason. The Mercedes 280 SE is probably the most beautiful car ever but too heavy for engine but still knocks people away...ALWAYS used in movies whenever they want a classy car for stars even today.Mine original.

  • Technology and Fun In One Great Package - 2004 Honda Insight

This has been a fun car to drive, and full of nice surprises. To begin with, I purchased the Insight because of its advanced hybrid technology. I knew it achieved great fuel milage, but I didnt know it was such a great handling auto, and so much fun to drive. Ive been on a few long trips and the car is very comfortable all day long. Lots of people ask about the auto whenever I fuel up (which isnt very often).

This tiny car draws comments everywhere. I have found it responsive and reliable, reasonably comfortable, and large enough to go camping with, but it wont carry a boat or bike. You have to learn to drive it carefully to get the best gas mileage. Push it too hard too long and the mileage goes down. But it will go fast and far with no complaints. Have taken it to Maine from the Midwest, have taken a passenger on a trip, have gone ten thousand four hundred fift three miles since I bought it 3 months ago. Frankly, I love it. Wish it had cruise control, but it has everything else I need.

  • Excellent Car, No maintenance issues - 2004 Honda Insight

My Insight is actually a 2001 model with about 80,000 miles. Original tires, clutch. New brakes. I have had no difficulty. It is a great car. I am 64" and weigh about 230. SUVs are for people with small, well, you know... Smart cars from Europe are great as well, but not available in US. If people in the US would use more efficient cars, they wouldnt "need" to sent their kids overseas to get killed. Why not think about that EVERY time you fill your tank.

From the frist day the trouble began, the car (or over powered skateboard) did not provide the power needed to passs, or get smoothly into the normal traffic pattern. on hot days the a/c could not keep up. and most of all the customer service was dreadfull.

This is my commute car. I drive 65 miles to and from work, down hill in the morning, no traffic, 55-60 miles all the way. I can get up to 92 miles a gallon especially following a flat bed truck on the flat. There is a speed between 53 and 58 at which the car seems to be running on electric only and charge at same time... amazing. My first 43,000 miles averages 60.8m/g. The 1200 miles from my house to Los Abgeles and back where with a 73m/g average. I have kept track of the mileage at each fillup and every 1000 miles if you need proof. I drove the car at 103 m/h down hill... it zooms. Only problem: leaky struts in back (covered by waranty).
