I have owned my Fit for approximately 6 months and the auto has proved to be very reliable. Overall the Fit is well constructed, but a little bit on the cheap side for features. One example is the front wiper blades - I cannot remember a recent car or truck that did not have true intermittent wiper blades! The Fit rides sporty, but a "little" on the bouncy side. The noise level inside the cabin can become fairly loud at times, such as during acceleration. The front seats are also on the uncomfortable side - the seats could be better designed and have at least an adequate armrest for the driver and passenger. The gas economy computer is also a joke - even GM can do this right.

  • Fun But Wouldnt Choose it Again - 2009 Honda Fit

Bought this car in Jan 2009 as a commuter vehicle (60mi round trip to work each day on back roads). Car looks great, has tons of interior room - 4 good sized adults fit comfortable in this vehicle - and has fun, peppy handling. 34mpg on average. Some freakishly bad luck-1 huge ice chunk and 2 low-speed fender benders (1 front, 1 back at less than 13 mph) resulted in over $7000 damage each time. We kid that if you look at the Fit mean, the doors fall off. The impact energy may be dissipated, but youre left with rubble after what should be a minor incident. I wouldnt put a young driver in this car and Im selling as soon as its paid off.

  • Left wanting more - 2009 Honda Fit

I bought my Fit almost a year ago so have had plenty of time to think about it and reflect on my purchase. At first sight I liked the color and enjoyed the interior features such as the magic seats and navigation system. After having driven it over 6000 miles now I regret to say that if I could go back I would pick a different vehicle. Driver is uncomfortable on long drive with very little back support and small arm rests. front passenger has no arm rest at all. Over all the car was worth the small price, but next time spend a little more and get something better. Sorry Honda, not one of your best models over all. Oh and p.s. honda, teach your sales reps more about the fit. misleading.

  • Rough and tough - 2009 Honda Fit

I think Honda forgot to put springs & shocks in my Fit! The ride is brutal on Minnesotas beat up roads. Hondas build quality is apparent, any other car that rides this rough would have broken in half or at least creak, groan & squeak after 15000 miles. My other complaints are the awkward placement of the cup holders. Being a righty, the cup holder on the left side of the dash is inconvenient. The mouse fur interior fabric traps hair and lint that is difficult to remove. I also wonder how long the cardboard carpeting will hold up.

  • Great Car - 2009 Honda Fit

Traded in a Jeep on a cash for clunkers deal. I wanted the most efficient and reliable car I could get. I think that I may have found it. Great mileage, fun to drive and comfortable. Great car for around town driving. Have taken a few 400 mile road trips and it can cruise all day long. Keep in mind that it is a small car and dont try to overload it and all will be fine. A great car for the money.

  • it fits...mostly - 2009 Honda Fit

As an owner of 15 or so Hondas, from CRVs to S-2000s, I feel qualified to evaluate the Honda Fit. For the price, a bargain. Fun to drive, extremely maneuverable, very good mileage. Comfy seat, excellent outward visibility. Best manualshift quality ever. On the down side...the way the interior is configured affects the suspension design so there is little rear suspension travel which leads to a bumpy, sometimes shocking rear suspension whams. I would not recommend the car, at least the Sport model to anyone who normally travels on dirt or low quality roads. That said I love the car and am amazed at the eagerness of the engine, especially on the freeway.

  • Not typical, but annoying as... heck - 2009 Honda Fit

First off, big Honda fan. Just got bad car. 2 months old took it in for "ting" in motor. Service found loose exhaust valve on #4 cyl, broken exhst valve spring on #3 cyl, Vtec system not working (dead solenoid), passngr side motor mount installed backwards. 17 days in shop, top half of motor was replaced (cylinder heads, valve train & solendiod), motor mount re-installed. Lot of issues for new car. Told Honda we wanted "out", corporate said no, its fixed. It goes in this week for spazdic rear wiper (rear swipes randomly when front wiper on and rear wiper OFF). Had lots of Hondas, these issues arent typical. This may be the best running Fit on the road right now but will trade in ASAP.

  • Excellent Fit - 2009 Honda Fit

Best balance of comfort, performance, economy, utility and trouble free driving in this price range. The styling is Jazzy-Functional. Seats are supportive and comfortable for a 6 hour drive. With the A/T, highway noise is low at 70 mph (2500 rpm). Only gets noisy above 3000 rpm, which is apparently where the M/T cruises at 70 mph. Fun to drive quickly in the twisties- just keep it in S (1st-3rd) or use the paddle shifters and keep the rpm up. Only down-side is that it gets twitchy in 30 knot cross winds. This is my 5th Honda/Acura-none kept less than 8 years. That says a lot about overall satisfaction level.

  • Fun car, with annoyances - 2009 Honda Fit
    By -

I was spoiled by my Toyota Echo - 40+ mpg. The Fit cant touch it. Its mpg readout claims 34 mpg, but it lies. Very inaccurate, and since Honda does such a good job on everything else, I cant help thinking it is intentional. I get 29 mpg. Other annoyances - no cubbyholes for sunglasses, car reg & ins, phone charger, etc. BLACK upholstery (hate it, but only option for 09 Sport) collects tons of hair from my blond, long-haired dog. On the other hand, I feel safe, with crush-zone front and lots of airbags. Fit is peppy, has great easy-to-read, well-lit gauges, good sound system, cruise control. It hauls lots of stuff easily.

  • Youotta git-one! ! ! - 2009 Honda Fit

I may be 60 years old, but I dont think like older folks. This car is fun, fun, fun, and way beyond that!! It turns on a dime (gives you 9 cents change), slices thru traffic like a Cutco knife!, and gets 36.5 mpg to boot (city/hwy)!! Steering is quick and takes getting used to. Handling of the car exceeds the org. tire capabilities. My wife & I took an 1100 mile trip in it and she said that the seats are better than her 2006 Accord!! The agility is awesome, even on the hi-way. WOW! The ride is firm, but this is a SPORT! Be sure to leave space from the curb, clearance is limited! The admission price seems high on a Honda, but well well worth it in every respect. After all, this is my 4th Honda!!
